Here's an update:
I'm working on the river, now. http://img439.imageshack.us/img439/2583/citytall7yf.jpg http://img326.imageshack.us/img326/5...llriver2wf.jpg http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/7451/citywtf9jg.jpg |
Are you going to make a downtown full of supertalls and modern skyscrapers? :)
Great job so far! :) |
Yes-Most of what I've been working on thus far are the neighbourhoods immeaditely outside of downtown. The core of downtown will be on the other side of ther river. A lot has changed since my last post...
Central Green, the city's oldest surviving park. http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/984/1ou2.jpg City Hall is the tower on the left. It was completed in 1929 shortly before the Great Depression, which rendered plans for leaseable office space obsolete as the building sat empty for nearly 30 years. It was built on top of the original City City City Hall, which was constructed in 1898. Shortly into the Financial Crisis of 1999, a public works project created a new green roof on top of the old City Hall, providing a few hundred unemployed with jobs and a green aspect to an otherwise inefficent building. http://img115.imageshack.us/img115/4007/2su1.jpg Mason St., a touristy shopping district. http://img79.imageshack.us/img79/1130/3wa1.jpg Just off Mason St. (seen behind the small green building) is the transition to the historic Rowhouse District. In the Rowhouse district are countless small, intimate plazas, like the one seen at right. In the distance, the CityBeacon stands as the tallest in the city since its completion in 1949. http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/6205/4ri5.jpg Photograph from one of the lower floors of Museum Centre showing the rooftops of the Rowhouse District. http://img115.imageshack.us/img115/6897/5dv0.jpg The City City Modern Art Museum on the far right, Museum Centre condominums behind that. To the left is Museum Park. http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/7821/6aq4.jpg The City City City Metropolitan Arts Museum http://img79.imageshack.us/img79/1438/7ff2.jpg A basic overhead shot. Downtown will be near the top of this photo, the rowhouse and entertainment districts to the lower right, the convention centre at the bottom and the warehouse district to the lower left. http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/7146/8xi6.jpg http://img79.imageshack.us/img79/632/9so5.jpg The windowless, concrete building is the City City Central Mechanical Output Complex. It houses vents and fans for the sewer and subway systems, as well as gov't computer control boards and phone boards. It rests upon two smaller buildings, built as part of the project, and the tower spans a street. The two smaller office buildings below compromise the brutality of the structure by offering public green roofs adjacent to the controls tower. http://img115.imageshack.us/img115/6113/10ks4.jpg To the right one can see one of the smaller buildings: http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/2237/11pf7.jpg http://img115.imageshack.us/img115/24/12ux6.jpg |
WOW!!! This is like the best Sketchup City I have ever seen!! So incredibly real!!
|
Thanks much! Due to the detail, I can probably get at most about a whole block done in a night, but since I like to rush things, I maybe put one or two buildings on a block all over the place and then sort of fill in the gaps. ;)
|
Makes me wanna run around and hit people with a bat (think Vice City) and drive as fast as I can through it....(need for speed)
F-bombing cool as hell!!! |
WOO-EEE! Very very nice job, sir! :D
|
Damn...If this city looks amazing now, then I'm scared to see this city when its finished!
|
Great job, that looks cool.

Thanks all! Last night I dedicated a few hours to making tons of rowhouse textures and building the rowhouse district:the result is one long block of the Rowhouse District, adjacent to the Museum of Modern Art and Museum Centre Condominiums. I also redid the facade of of a skyscraper on the river. I'll get more pictures of the Rowhouse District once the other three blocks are finished.

Oh, and as a side note, I know there are ways of making new locations for Midtown Madness and MIdtown Madness 2. I might look into that once it's 'finished.' :D
|
I have that game, are you saying that city can be transfered to Midown Madness 2?

By the way, I was really big on Midtown Madness when they were still popular and on PC, and there were tons of fan sites devoted to plugins where you could download cars and locations and such. I know a few of them have shut down due to declined interest, but I do explicitly remember MM2Central, and I'll have to check if they're still up and still have the building programs. I remember the free ZModeller 3d program was popular for making plugins. |

Wow if its possible Stuanton was in Midtown Madness 2, wow that would be amazing :) You city looks more realalistic though with photo textures :)
And how did you get this view? http://img79.imageshack.us/img79/632/9so5.jpg |
