Well, there is still the possibility that even if they do vote yes (I personally think the cantilever is hideous and the rest of the design mediocre at best) that the final height will be somewhat more than 1423 ft. Perhaps more like 1485 ft. Additionally, I believe Extell is going to redesign because the ante has been upped by the Shop tower, making their current design look that much worse.

The ante has been upped by all the 57th/Central Park South towers.

There is no rush, they still have 18 more months of excavation to kill.

l hope they go 1,550 feet.

Oh yeah sorry, I forgot they have to build the bunker for the designers of this building for when the riots start.:D

Keep in mind its only partial excavation. Demolition is still not complete on the site. When that's done there will be full excavation.

I like the one with cantilever better, in my opinion. It giver the tower a little more structure. I can't wait to see some more renderings, this one could end up being okay after all!

Those images confirm this building sucks no matter what massing layout or orientation. This, 432 Park, and 22 Thames are what happens when architecture is reduced to nothing more than an engineering feat.

Don't lump Vinoly (genius) in with this ASGG mess...even though, since it keeps getting tweaked..?

Perhaps its a matter of taste, but I don't consider Vinoly any more a genius than AS+GG, though I find his buildings less offensive.

Genius = Stern, ShOP, Nouvel, Herzog and de Meuron, Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG)

Vinoly falls below with guys like Frank Ghery and Christian de Portzamparc (I think 400 PAS is very overrated and completely out of context with the area, though i know pretty much everyone disagrees. I have no love for One57)

I never got the comparison with 432Park. Obviously people have their own opinion about the building, but even if you don't appreciate the building like some of us do, you get a clear picture of what the architect is trying to achieve, and as bland as it may be, it's quite unique for a building of that size, same can be said about 22 Thames, I actually like its minimalist look. That said I wouldn't put Vinoly in the category of "geniuses" you just mentioned.
As far as this (maybe) Extell tower it is just a complete mess, it's incoherent and flat out terrible looking.
