I highly doubt that's what they are expecting. The sheer number of layoffs and planes they are sending into long term storage are a clear sign that they know summer 2020 is a write off. They are simply updating the schedules a month at a time it seems. |
WS appears to be starting cargo only flights with its 787s as 2 are currently operating YYC-DUB under flight #s WS9920 & 9926.
This is the most international action YYC has seen in weeks. |
That Aeromexico did go to a gate. It was 75, which isn't very visible from most public areas.
|
The 2 WS 787s that flew to DUB on Friday flew DUB-YYC-ATL-YYC today. Crazy to think ATL got to see the WestJet dreamliners before even YVR did.
|
Hardly a shocker, but Eurowings confirming FRA-YYC is not going to happen this year.
https://www.routesonline.com/news/38...as-of-24apr20/ Wouldn't be surprised to see the only long haul route out of YYC this summer being WS to LGW. |

Guangzhou – Vancouver
China Southern has scheduled the A380 to replace its 777-300ER from 28 APR to 27 MAY - once weekly service as mandated. Not that many A380s flying right now. |

I got bored and tired of the endless COVID-19 blather, so I got lost in Google Flights and decided to make itineraries flying across Canada on only Canadian-built aircraft. Free time is a wonderful thing :help:
Enjoy my insanity. The world's largest plane, the Antonov 225, (6 engines, twin tail, originally built to carry the Soviet space shuttle) is supposed to be bringing a load of medical supplies from China on Thursday evening into Mirabel.
|
Apparently when China Southern landed at YVR this morning, it was the only A380 flying anywhere in the world at that time. Source is from the YVR Spotters Facebook group with data from Flight Radar.

The A380 is a toy compared to the An-225. Incredible to think that the one plane built will most likely outlast the whole A380 program. Link to a news piece about it. In french only. https://www.lapresse.ca/covid-19/202...-rescousse.php |

I wonder if China Southern is just rotating the B777/A380 to keep both active. I'm also curious how many revenue passengers were aboard and if the cargo hold was full... It goes against ones expectations to see such a massive passenger aircraft used when traffic is down 90%! |
