Also, don't forget that it's a more or less consistently proven fact that renders for a variety of reasons do little justice to what fleshes out.

That alone should be cause for great optimism

The height of this thing probably deserved something more special, but it is what it is. It appears they squeezed every last drop from the air rights with the boxy shape.

mrnyc Oct 1, 2017 7:31 PM

are we sure that is to be blue glass?

it looks wrapped up.

its just one photo, so we need more facade pics.

It's pretty clear there's some film or wrap on the glass. Also the glass doesn't match the renderings.

aquablue Oct 2, 2017 1:01 AM

The glass is silvery according to the renderings. If its blue glass I'll be disappointed. My username may say differently, but I'm actually getting bored of that color on towers.

NYguy Oct 2, 2017 2:20 PM

It's covered. It could still be blue (not likely) but we won't know it until it's uncovered. I say go with the renderings.

While the city’s latest skyscraper boom is pushing well-heeled buyers
higher and higher into the sky, many still covet their shared spaces and a little patch of grass closer to the ground. For you lonely billionaires yearning for that sense of community and Kumbaya sanctuaries within your high-rise aeries, Extell’s Central Park Tower has got you covered. Perched along a low-floor setback of the 130-floor building, HMWhite has shaped an intimate common gathering space to serve as the residents’ “personal backyard.” The landscape firm, handled the New York Times' lobby gardens and the terraces of Brooklyn’s current tallest tower, HUB, and Related’s MiMa. Sharing the belief that design intelligence inspires social engagement and positive civic behavior, for Central Park Tower they specify passive and active recreational areas to “foster a strong sense of community and common fellowship.” A central open lawn will serve as a common gathering space and accommodate flexible uses while garden walls and a landscape framework will organize a sequence of garden rooms and relaxation areas.

Wow! That outdoor common space is amazing. Perhaps the nicest I've seen at a large condo building.

Kind of an aside here...maybe...
...but it's almost ha-ha funny how they make 111W57/Steinway look way shorter than realistically presented.
I mean I get it..."Game on" and all that marketing banter; but the fabric of credibility can be stretched only so far.

Which image are you referring to? None of the above images show 111 W57.

I think you are confusing One57 in the above renderings. There is no image of 111W57th on the renderings on this page, unless of course you're suggesting they made it so short its not even on the skyline!

Prezrezc Oct 7, 2017 6:59 PM

You're both right. I caught myself in the error and tried to delete the post after the fact.
...But One57 still looks smaller in that pano than it really is.

NYCrules Oct 9, 2017 6:14 PM

^^ You folks remember how 252 East 57th initially had a blue coat of plastic or some similar sort of material on its glass facade and many people who didn't have the knowledge of it went down fast and furious? And do you remember how the whole series of disappointment turned out beautifully with the coat once peeled off? You do remember, right?

PS: The diagram for this beauty has been updated on SSP, go check it out ;)

Wow! What a beautiful swimming pool! It's gorgeous! I like to go into the swimming pool.

It s not a hémisphère tallest building in case that it has a spire it will becomes the tallest building

Koodoo25 Oct 11, 2017 10:56 PM

From earlier today. More glass.
It looks like the concrete has made it past the first mechanical floor of the tower, at around half the height of 220 CPS

Does anyone know what the true floor count of this is? I'm seeing, 99, 95 even 131. What is the actual amount and not the marketing gimmick amount?
