It was in their presentation as late as last year. |

It will be harder for AC to compete with the local Chinese carriers out of these cities, then on the European routes out of YUL/YYZ. This is why besides CAN, I don't think AC will venture too deep into interior China. Then again, who knows....AC is on a roll lately with all their intl expansion. They might have a trick or two up their sleeve when it comes to China, as they so eloquently showed with the launch of YUL-PVG. |
Two days ago we finally got YUL's passengers numbers for July and August and today we get the third quarter results. Great summer for passengers numbers as September got a 10.1% increase over last year, witch makes a cumulative 9,8% increase for July, August and September over last year!

WestJet and London: A mess or a success?
Airline's expansion has put bums in seats but company struggling with delayed, cancelled, diverted flights By Tracy Johnson, CBC News Posted: Oct 20, 2016 5:00 AM ET Last Updated: Oct 20, 2016 5:00 AM ET As WestJet struggles with the operation of its Canada-to-London routes, the last thing the airline needed was another grounded flight. But that's just what happened Tuesday, when a WestJet flight from London's Gatwick Airport to Toronto was diverted to Greenland because of a potential mechanical problem. Passengers were given meal vouchers, and two aircraft were sent to Greenland to bring them to Canada. This has become a familiar story for the airline. Earlier this month, two flights from Toronto to London were cancelled. According to flight-tracking website Flight Aware, a further three from London to Toronto were cancelled the same weekend. ... http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/west...pact-1.3810374 |
A nice cheap way to visit Greenland. Unfortunately, the town of Kangerlussuaq is tiny and boring and the food at the airport there is quite possibly one of the worst ways to experience Greenlandic culture. It was originally a US air base (Sondrestrom, if that means anything to anyone)

What is up with West jets new planes not having monitors on the back of the seats? I always bring my tablet but I feel bad for people who don't have them. If you rent one of their limited tablets they only have about a dozen things to choose to watch. It may be time to give Air Canada another shot.

Some pretty impressive numbers for September out of JAR. Our airport clearly has the capability of sustaining international flights, excluding American destinations. Let's hope this trend keeps up and we see more non-stop international destinations come our way.
Winnipeg Richardson International Airport Flies High with Record September October 21, 2016 September 2016 was a record month at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport, as passenger volume increased 15.5% compared to September 2015. This represents the second largest year-over-year increase and the highest in more than a decade. “We are delighted that the market has responded so well by absorbing increased available seats to all destinations,” said Pascal Bélanger, Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Winnipeg Airports Authority. “We will continue to work diligently in positioning our community’s needs with our travel partners to add required capacity.” Visitors and travellers through the Winnipeg Richardson International Airport took advantage of new pricing and routes to push the increased volumes through our facilities. Routes such as London-Gatwick, Toronto and Las Vegas were a boon for business travellers, family groups and those exploring our captivating country. With 60 direct destinations for this year and more to come, our community airport is on a journey to new heights. Source: http://www.waa.ca/media/news/article...cord-september |
Delta seems to be doing fine, so we can sustain MSP.

I'm not talking about the Pearson airport specifically but:
When visiting Toronto I am now staying at hotels near the airport and taking the Union-Pearson (UP) Express train to go downtown. It's a lot cheaper for hotel rooms and so much easier to get downtown. The train ride is exactly 25 minutes to Union Station. There are two very short stops. (I think the stop stations are Weston and Bloor) All I did was walk to the Value Parking lot, get on the airport link train, get off at Terminal 1 and right there is the UP Express train which leaves every 15 minutes. I could have taken the hotel's free shuttle van to Terminal 1 but the weather was nice and it took less than 10 minutes to walk to the Value Parking lot. Does anyone else out there do that? It's nice being able to pay less than $100 per night for a room and not having to pay huge cab fares to get downtown. |
