y'all Calgary People have been holding out on us, there is a Chick Fil A in the airport, pre-security side, I didn't even know they opened up in Canada.

Anyway took some pics on a layover, there is so much wasted/bad use of space in the airport and B gates had some life to them today but still so much space

https://scontent.fcxh3-1.fna.fbcdn.n...8f&oe=5CAA1644

It looks like they turned some unused retail space into a waiting area

Seems like the major changes for AC update this week are...

7th daily YYZ-LAX
763 on YYZ-YEG, YYZ-YOW
YUL-FLL upgauge to Rouge 763
6th weekly YUL-YYJ
YYZ-BOS mainline
Capacity of LIS moved to ATH (YYZ-LIS 4x weekly, YUL-LIS 1x weekly, YYZ/YUL-ATH 9x weekly)
Rouge 320 joining the fleet (YYZ-NAS)
CCC/SNU down to 1x weekly from both YYZ/YUL
Cancellation of YUL-YHM
Big increase in YUL-YGR

Didn't check AC7200-7999 since it's not YVR-related :D

-------
And wasn't mentioned, big changes from last week:

Additional daily flight for YVR-ANC/SEA/SFO/YOW
Big increase in YUL-MIA

Are these schedules posted on the AC timetable, or only behind the scenes still? Some of the changes are on the AC public timetable (YYZ-YEG, YYZ-YOW, YYZ-NAS etc.) but I'm still seeing 6 daily YYZ-LAX on every random day in the summer. The BOS public sched is definitely in the transition stage as it shows Express and mainline flights within 20 mins of each other, meaning the Express flights haven't been removed.

What were YUL-MIA and YUL-YGR last year?

YUL-MIA was on daily A319, now it seems to be 2 daily A319 on certain days.

YUL-YGR is daily DH3, now it seems to be 2 daily 1 DH3 and DH1

As for YUL-FLL, it's been 3 years now that they run 2 daily 763 in the summer, nothing new there. As for LIS, I find it strange that its would be 1x weekly as AC usually doesn't do 1 weekly service unless its a sun destination. I doubt AC would let Transat run the route 5 weekly and AC 1 weekly.

Still waiting to see what AC will do with YUL-TLV? Transat dropped the route and AC currently runs 3 weekly.

I only compared to the timetable I gathered earlier this year. I guess it was briefly downgauged to double daily A319, but now reverted.

And I checked AC7000s this morning... nothing special except AC removed *some* BOS flights (as mentioned above).

Yikes that's bleak.

They really haven't addressed the majority of the issues with the new terminal since opening it. A few bandaids here and there but in my opinion as a user it is still a very dysfunctional and uninviting space. They better get it together soon, it's going to be a busy place next year with all the new westjet flights.

I want to see what TS will do with that spare A332. Any upgauges on existing routes so far?

First off I have had chicken from the chicken place pre-security. It is ok. Nothing to write home about.

The walkway between A-B-C-D need art. The airport needs to develop a collection and being populating it with suitable art work.

Yes, oil of canvas would be fitting.

YVR has the YVR Art Foundation and a fairly significant collection.

Let me preface with the fact that I like YYC, but the YYC link sucks, as does the direct to gate.

Recently did a transfer in YYC to an AC YYC-FRA flight leaving from the D Pier, I don't get the interior of the new terminal. The food and retail areas are ok but the waiting area in D Pier is horrid, vinyl flooring, no proper seating areas, looks as though the seating is in a hallway, super cheap finishes and generally very uninviting and somewhat confusing. They need to re-work the boarding areas big time.

Calgary has a love-hate (no scratch that hate-hate) relationship with public art. Just off airport lands is the Giant Blue Ring.

Then there are pieces from NYC artists that inadvertently recreated local indigenous burial tombs.

Maybe we should leave the airport off the public art procurement.

thenoflyzone Dec 6, 2018 1:03 AM

Wow. What the f is that?

Literally a bit of Alberta crude on your hands, spread on canvas, and hung up in the terminal building would look better than that.......

Oh that is odd that there's 7x daily LAX-YYZ but only 6x daily YYZ-LAX? I did the rotation layout and something is definitely off, is a YYZ-LAX flight not yet loaded? And also some pretty significant overnight time for one of the flights. The 7th LAX-YYZ outbound has a 737 Max but there is no inbound from YYZ. And one of the flights remains on ground at LAX from 1858 until the next morning. Seems like a fairly large downtime but maybe not.

nname, what do you make of it?

LOT bringing YYZ up to 11x weekly June-September.

They were under the misguided though process that Canadians would be happier sitting in a common area far from their gate buy surrounded by airport retail outlets and fast food. Then we would all periodically look at screens and just before our flight boards get up in mass and rush over to the gate to stand in a long hallway with no seating.

They discovered the errors of their ways but buy that time it was built and all they could do was stick a few seats around the gate area.

AC increasing both YUL-ATH and YYZ-ATH to 9x weekly for next summer.
