I had to have a double take on that pax number :???:
...That's a 200X drop in passenger numbers from what it would normally be !!! :surrender:

I'd say doing something like 800-1500 per day maybe?

Despite being named a designated airport to receive international traffic by the government, there is not a single International flight left at YYC, and a mere 3 US flights. (1 to MSP, 1 to SEA, and 1 to DFW).

Surprised their even keeping the ITB open at all, and didn't just close US Pre-clearance and have the single DL and AA flight at Con C instead.

Currently BA is scheduled to resume May 1 and WS May 5 (both are doubtful).

Hardly any airports have reported Feb stats, let alone March. YYJ (Victoria) has said that the last two weeks of March saw a 70% drop in traffic... we'll see when they post some numbers.

The Saskatoon airport (YXE) has put up March numbers and they are down ~48% from 2019.

A lot of airports have posted February stats. YOW for example grew nicely...mostly thanks to the leap year day, but even factoring that out, they still would have been in positive territory.

Yes March will likely but down a minimum of 20% across the board. April will be down at least 90% everywhere.

Well an ‘average’ day at YYC is about 48,500 pax. So losing 98.5% of that takes the daily pax count to around 700-800.

I guess I was thinking that most of the larger ones have not posted stats since January: YYZ, YUL, YVR & YEG. I can't find any monthly stats for YHZ and YWG - do they post them? Yes, April will be likely a 90% drop across the board - maybe even more in the small airports.

The Japanese airlines have updated their interim Canadian service for 14-Apr to 15-May (for what its worth):

ANA - Tokyo Haneda – Vancouver

3 weekly 787-9

JAL - Tokyo Narita – Vancouver

15APR20 – 30APR20 2 weekly 787-8 (767 on 16APR20)
01MAY20 – 31MAY20 1 weekly 787-8

UA re-opened reservation for several of its Canadian routes from May 4, so far only from YVR, YYC, YYZ, YUL, YHZ, YQB. I'm going to assume this was in error. Most other US carriers further reduce their schedules in May.

So far YOW / YEG / YWG all still appear to be cancelled?

YWG post monthly stats but they're sporadic. They've finally updated their 2019 Q4: https://www.waa.ca/uploads/ck/files/...Statistics.pdf

YHZ only post annual numbers, but if you email them, they will send you monthly stats broken down by sector...I did it early last year for 2018's numbers.

KF Aerospace (formerly Kelowna Flightcraft) getting more back into the freighter business?: https://www.aircargonews.net/airline...-kf-aerospace/

Quote:

Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) will provide Canada-based KF Aerospace with three B737-400SF freighter conversions.

Timing for the total programme completion is still being finalised, however, one aircraft (MSN 24769) is scheduled to commence modification in May 2020.

The modifications are being performed by KF Aerospace’s Kelowna facility, which is an authorised AEI Conversion Center.
They could be for another customer though. I know KF still have the CV580s flying regional cargo ops in BC.

This could be good in the long term as a lot of the Combis are older 200 and 300 models. There is a market for newer combis.

The -200s can be used for gravel runway operations, which makes them a rare, but useful commodity.

Combis are kind of a rare beast these days, though. Generally, dedicated cargo operators and belly freight cover the gamut of operations.

They are pretty much relegated to places that can't really justify both cargo and passenger operations separately.

They're cool planes though.

Well Canada has a major tourist spending deficit (estimated as the 3rd worst contributor to our balance of payments deficit) so it would likely be better than a wash!

Wonder if they are going to take a run at the Purolator contract that expires in 2022. Barry Lapointe still owns a small share of Purolator as well and as mentioned above, KF still does regional cargo work for Purolator in BC. 3 737's wouldn't cut it compared to how many 727's did it before but this is a couple years away anyway.

YOW-IAD 2x daily has opened back up. Remains to be seen how much, if any of this actually sticks.

YOW-ORD is also showing as coming back in June.

the 200 and 300 used up north are pretty old and need to be replaced some time.
