This is an airport thread. Pax numbers are very much relevant. Also, January numbers weren't affected by COVID, and begin to illustrate the kind of year the airports would have had without the spread of the virus.

YVR-MEL was already moved to seasonal long before the Covid-related issues. At this point those lists are useless anyways, everything is pretty much stopping it seems like. Sadly, a shorter list would be routes that are actually still flying... airlineroute.net should be posting what is still flying for the next couple months instead of what is cancelled lol... I always frequented that site because it had such good updates on new routes/changes etc. But now it is like reading the obituaries in the newspaper and I can't digest all of it :(

No major groundings yet. We will find out next week, when AC, WS, Sunwing and PD all ground part or all of their fleets.

Here at YUL, until 2 days ago, airport movements was near 100% (650 per day this time of the year). Cancelations started yesterday, slowly. This time next week, YUL, like most airports, will be a ghost town.

I hope AC and WS take this downtime to repaint lots of planes. Moreso for AC than WS (since WS's change isn't really noticeable), but ACs new and old livery are so different, it would be nice to get more of those workhorse 320s and 319s painted, as well as the Jazz ones (I feel like some Jazz planes even have the yellow/green/red livery from the really old days!). I am OCD so seeing a row of AC planes at the gate in the same fresh new livery would be so nice, instead of new, toothpaste, toothpaste, new, toothpaste, new, new...

Both of these airlines are going to be in cash conservation mode. I don't think they are going to contract out any maintenance that is not required for safety or to maintain the aircraft certified.

All flights daily except 4x weekly HKG, and all other long-hual flight cancelled.

For some odd reason, I still see 3-4x weekly YVR-TPE but every other ones I've tested had been removed.

Read on a local aviation spotters FB page today that Kitchener is closing one of it's runways for aircraft storage. I imagine we could see several regional airports in southern Ontario storing some. Even a place like YCE Centralia, north of London, has a couple decent size runways (5000 and 4400 feet) that has had 727 and 737 in there for refurbishment, and can probably hold a couple dozen aircraft around the field. A former runway is about 2700, and there are a bunch of taxiways inside the triangle as well.

We'll just pretend it's 2006 again. That was the extent of AC's European network from YUL back then.

YYC will literally be nothing now. Both AC / WS have now cancelled all US / International markets leaving just KLM / BA as scheduled international and the American airlines left in transborder for the month of April.

I think the opposite....if you compare YYC'S numbers to YYZ YVR and YUL, Calgary is much more domestic and the other 3.

Not saying domestic numbers won't be affected, but it can't be as bad as flights being simply cancelled like most international flights out of the 3 bigger airports. And they also have higher transborder numbers so they will probably be more impacted there too....
