Well that's all folks. Sorta funny that we had all this up and down just for it to end up exactly like it was supposed to at the start...

if there's one thing you can count on with NYC skyscrapers, it's a height cut. If they cut the steinway I will explode!
|
Well that's disheartening, 1776 better not be the unofficial height that buildings are not allowed to build taller than!!!

I think it looks just fine without the spire. I liked it with the spire as well, but the version without still works.

The entire spire rule needs to be revisited; it's been much the topic of conversation between San Francisco and Los Angeles too. Certain spires are an intrinsic part of towers (Chrysler and Empire State buildings), while others are basically stuck on sticks or masts (Trump Tower Chicago, 1 WTC, Wilshire Grand LA).

I'm glad it will at least will lead in the rankings for tallest roof in the Western Hemisphere.
On the topic of the spire rule, for a tower such as this, if the spire was to be built, it makes sense, likewise for WTC1 as it is obvious and part of the design. Towers such as the New York Times Building, its a metal pvc pipe that shouldn't count. For some towers which the spire adds a significant architectural touch, it matters, but for others, its just bs. Just one of those debates that will go in for decades I guess. In the end, who cares. If it makes the skyline look great, its a win-win. What is important though, is that the title changes for this.... and 30 Hudson. :haha: |
I like the new one especially having increased the real building height (from the eyes point of view)
Besides new York has enough buildings with spires that in many perspectives unfairly make them supertalls especially Bank of America Tower and New York Times Tower. New York times tower doesn't even reach 250 meters and it's a supertall? EDIT: the spires do look neat though |
