Thanks. To be honest, I was also suprised at the result :).

Skoulikimou Sep 17, 2006 9:15 PM

every time SSC goes offline i tend to spend my money on worthless things :no:

Sinjin Sep 18, 2006 12:23 AM

At least I can now focus on my modules :D

spyguy Sep 18, 2006 12:27 AM

This happens way too often. Luckily, when one site is down the other is usually up.

Rambaldi Sep 18, 2006 12:38 AM

I predict that one day both these sites will go down at the same time and god help us all if that ever happens :no:

Sinjin Sep 18, 2006 12:41 AM

:previous: Then someone creates his own skyscraper site. :haha:

Sinjin Sep 18, 2006 12:53 AM

Found this thing in Wikipedia...

Uptime - Downtime (for a year)

* 100% - 0 hours 0 minutes
* 99.9% - 8 hours 46 minutes
* 99.5% - 43 hours 50 minutes
* 99.0% - 87 hours 39 minutes
* 98.0% - 175 hours 19 minutes

So what do you think SSC's uptime is?

Sinjin Sep 18, 2006 1:20 AM

Progress: So SSC isn't under maintenance anymore? Just a while ago, I tried to access SSC and I was able to but it took me 15 minutes to load the whole main page...

^^ Omg!

TowerPower Sep 18, 2006 4:14 AM

Not only is SSC down, but my computer broke. :(

Convenient that they should happen at the same time though.

Sinjin Sep 18, 2006 6:56 AM

Okay, my friend (GlamChiqAA of SSC) sent an email to both Jan and gothicform asking the status of SSC and here are their replies:

Quote:

No worries mate, we're upgrading the database server at the moment. Bit of a ball breaker given the size of our database, the fact that it is weekend plus the 9 hour time zone difference for me and my host, but we'll get there some time. Should all be for the good.

Cheers,

- Jan

just a server upgrade taking longer than we thought

And, as a follow-up question, she asked if there's a definite date of which SSC will be back and here's the reply:

I wish I knew. Problems never come with a fixed date. Shouldn't be too long though, remember I like this site too!

Cheers,
- Jan

Thanks to GlamChiqAA (Rina) for updating us ;)

"Funny" you should say that... :( mine did too. It's completely dead.

As long as I don't pay to use SSC I don't mind it being down for periods.

Maybe they should introduce payment. I wouldn't mind paying let's say 5 Pounds/month e.g. to be able to make posts.

Stephan23 Sep 18, 2006 11:06 AM

Don't think so. If they need a new server. They should say, how much it cost and every 'real' user should pay 5 Euros or so. That's enough money I think.

Hope it's back soon.

Sinjin Sep 18, 2006 11:36 AM

^ But how about the students/non-earners who are major contributors too?

Rubbish Idea. You would lose at least 40% of all contributors. It would be a massive, MASSIVE mistake.

Sinjin Sep 18, 2006 11:52 AM

^ I'd still suggest voluntary donations ;)

jorgen Sep 18, 2006 12:03 PM

Citrus-Fruit: exactly the point :)

Anyway, just an idea, so stop complaining :P

Same here. We're having withdrawal symptoms :haha: As someone stated in the other thread, SSC is like an addictive drug... :D But based on the replies of Jan and gothicform to my friend above, I think this will take longer so I have oriented myself to do other things ;)
