A great addition to San Diego. I can't wait to see this rise! Hopefully this won't have too many obstacles.

At this angle 7th and Market reminds me of Wells Fargo Center in DTLA

It has such a weird massing...personally the hole in the middle just doesn't make sense.

In case you're following the Chargers stadium proposal in East Village: At 10 am TODAY in the Central Library there will be a presentation of an alternative. According to this article, it would include space for housing, offices, retail/restaurants, and a flexible meeting space that could be used for conventions, academic classrooms, and community events.

The irony of this line laughable, "The idea is to get multiple developers versus one developer doing everything.” So now he's presenting this idea in a public space that he was paid to be lead architect on... umm that's not how you get new ideas Robert. All hail the great presenter of alternatives... |

Go Chargers (to LA)! |

Never going to happen. If the chargers stadium doesn't go there it will still be a bus yard for a decade or more. Why not put that 20+ million dollar pedestrian bridge to use.
|
Either way I hope something like that building "L" is constructed...it looks really cool!

Hey everyone, here is a video with about 30 new projects in TJ, some of which are already under construction.

The dig for the parking garage at Pinnacle on the Park has started!
The cranes in the background of the picture are for Ballpark Village (three) and Alexan East Village (one with American Flag). https://c7.staticflickr.com/9/8780/2...48a55b49_z.jpg Pinnacle on the Park by Scott, on Flickr Also, another project on the left side of 5th Avenue, called Atmosphere. Thanks for telling me the project name The Flying Dutchman. https://c5.staticflickr.com/8/7523/2...18d874cc_z.jpg Atmosphere by Scott, on Flickr |

I was reading a Times of SD article with Doug Manchester talking about downtown re-development, and this quote jumped out:
"Of course, there is always more work that needs to be done. We need to have the Civic Plaza and Civic Theatre redeveloped, Horton plaza reimagined, and new city council offices 750-feet tall." http://timesofsandiego.com/opinion/2...town-bayfront/ City council offices 750 feet tall? Is this a reference to breaking the height limit? If so, why would it have been said in relation to city council offices? As far as I know there is no current proposals or plans to re-build the city administration offices. Also, the city admin offices are in central downtown, I would think a 750 footer would need to be in the far corner of East Village, if at all, due to further from the airport. Anyway, it's probably just Manchester talking out of his a**, but thought I'd post to see if anyone has heard anything about officials starting to explore >500 ft towers and/or plans for a new building for city offices? |
Notice he is talking about a 40-year timeframe. Still, can't fault Manchester for having some vision (of which we could use more of here in SD)
Recall SD's Civic Center Plaza lease-to-own deal in 2015 for city employees (a 20 year deal): http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/...-center-plaza/ The U-T article, interestingly, doesn't mention that Civic Center Plaza is owned by Cisterra: http://cisterra.com/projects/more-pr...-center-plaza/ I suspect Manchester is referring to a potential redevelopment of Civic Center Plaza and a VERY potential redevelopment of the SD Int. Airport and/or the FAA height limits. Pie in the sky? Maybe. A lot can happen in 40. |
That 2nd Pinnacle tower is of special note since I believe it is supposed to be a condominium tower, not rentals. Of course, they could pull a Vantage Pointe and do a complete 180. Should help to clean up that area quite a bit.
http://sandiegourban.properties/wp-c.../pinnacle2.jpg The project on 5th that ScottSD was referring to is Atmosphere: http://www.wakelandhdc.com/communiti...cts/atmosphere http://www.latitude33.com/wp-content...endering-2.jpg |
