Eh, I'm not against thrill rides just not a fan of wasting the land in seaport village for it. The hotels they'll build on the site are for the tourists so get something else on the rest of the land that the locals can use. That's why I leaned towards the sports arena project because it could benefit the locals and do something for the convention trade downtown that already exists. All the other crap they are pushing is for the tourist industry which is fine to an extent but put something there the 3 million plus locals can use. Either way I'm not going to get uptight about it. The more I hear about the project the more curious I am about the backers delivering to the city what they promise. Just a gut feeling about it. |

Nothing iconic or dazzling but I like it! |
I'm going to be at Comic Con next week. I kind of know some of the projects under construction downtown right now but is there a list of all projects that are currently under construction downtown?
Is much happening in Little Italy right now with construction? |

Planning Timelines Communications regarding mass transit projects There's no excuse for it, it's sub-par |
Well like a lot of other people I've been waiting for this project to get started too.
I do know that the two biggest delays were caused by the wait for federal funds (out of the cities control) and the area the trolley goes through has some pretty dense areas involved with right a ways that needed to be resolved (that coming from someone involved with the project). Fair enough though, it's been annoying. But they said a few years ago that the project would break ground in 2016 so unless it slips they are on the announced schedule from at least a couple of years ago. The biggest problem with mass transit here is what others have repeatedly said and that's mass transit only starts to happen in places like here on a large scale when commuters are forced out of their cars because the traffic is the worse option. If more people used what we already have in place the pace for getting new projects built would happen faster. Face it, this is a city where everyone likes to drive and usually alone in their own car. |

http://sandiego.urbdezine.com/development-map/ It's a comprehensive list of under construction projects in the downtown area. From Comic-Con the Ballpark Village project will be the most prominent construction site. Little Italy has a plaza/pedestrian area under construction with an associated mid-rise condominium/apartment development. |
^^^ Anybody know what's that project across Park Blvd from Smart Corner?
The old building has been demoed |

Fault Lines
Are you serious that the discovery of a fault line could stop a project? Doesn't SF, LA, Tokyo etc build on top of fault lines all the time? Why does SD make such a big issue about all this? I don't think the fault lines downtown are major I mean all of Morena Blvd through Rose Canyon is built up and the 5 runs right on top on it through there isn't that where an actual major fault line is located?

What I'm trying to stress that is that East Village is becoming a bonafide neighborhood, and we must remember that, despite our love for development for development's sake. ;) Sorry for bad formatting, I'm not good at this. |
A couple construction pics (will take more soon)
Alexan in East Village is coming along - looks like the underground parking is done and they are working on the tower above ground!

^^ Thanks for the construction updates. I believe we have 4 towers going up in the East Village now. Alexan, BPV, that one tower next to Pinnacle, and I believe Pinnacle's twin. I'm crossing my fingers that 7th & Market and Park & Market start before this cycle dips. Then we'll have some great density going up in EV.
