Protestors against shadows?
They shouldn't be allowed to live in NYC whatsoever! :hell:

Pete8680 Nov 14, 2015 1:12 AM

I liked the 1 protester who wants "more sun" but is wearing  ha ha

Pimby Nov 14, 2015 2:07 AM

Some of those protesters tend to remind me of those crazed, albino mutants who were constantly trying to kill Charlton Heston in the 1971 movie The Omega Man. As far as the megatall skyscrapers are concerned it's not a matter of being "yes in my backyard" but "PLEASE in my backyard".

I guarantee none of those people in that moronic protest have really ever worked a day in their lives and have their parents to thank them for the good cushy gluten free yoko Ono art gallery attending upper crust Manhaatan lives.

Had to think for a second, but no. I didn't see anyone taking photos. Anyway, looks like you got a better angle. We need more people taking pics, thanks.

artspook Nov 19, 2015 3:45 AM

hey PhotoLith -
Yoko will probably like this building . .
as it'll give her a more impressive skyline to look at . . from her Dakota apartment . .
though she'll have to stick her head out the window to see it from W72nd & CPW . .
and her Openings are very fun hip events.

timpdx Nov 19, 2015 5:34 AM

Worksite has looked desolate for days in everyone's pics, wasn't this under a stop work order a few weeks ago? That still in effect?

Don't know what you mean. Those last photos were all taking on the same day. The is no construction work on the weekends at most New York construction sites, weekends being when most people have free time to roam and take photographs.

Thought this was hilarious...

It's Official: New Yorkers In 2020 Won't See Sunlight
A FLURRY OF SKYSCRAPERS IS PLANNED FOR NYC. UNLESS YOU HAVE MILLIONS TO DROP ON A HIGH-RISE PENTHOUSE, PREPARE FOR IMMINENT DARKNESS.

New York City is in a real estate frenzy. In Manhattan, the skyline is rising higher and higher thanks to forthcoming projects by some of architecture's biggest names: Rafael Viñoly, Bjarke Ingels, SHoP, and Herzog and de Meuron, among others. Across the river in Brooklyn, a similar fleet of towering buildings is taking shape. One thing's certain: the streets of NYC are sure to get a heck of a lot darker.

National Geographic put together an illustration of the proposed and in-progress additions to the skyline superimposed with the existing cityscape. Before 2004, there were 28 skyscrapers 700 feet and taller. Thirteen have been built since then, 15 are under construction, and 19 more are proposed. Many are concentrated in Hudson Yards and near the World Trade Center, but as the infographic shows, the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building—two of the city's most iconic silhouettes—could potentially be engulfed by their taller brethren.

^from above article

Im at a loss for words. how does shit like this get published? the author of this must never have been to New York before

kalifese Nov 21, 2015 3:27 AM

this is terrible. there will be a humongous wall surrounding central park if they allow all these super talls to be built around it and blocking the view for people who live behind these buildings. :sly:

You better laugh when you say that.

QUEENSNYMAN Nov 21, 2015 4:47 PM

Hey NYguy also look CPT has a spire to in that diagram, that's not accurate is it?

chris08876 Nov 21, 2015 4:54 PM

There's no spire. Barnett was true to his word.

Who cares about people living in luxury skyscrapers behind taller ones? :sly:
They are so filthy rich, they should consider themselves lucky while the rest of us live in normal condos in the suburbs because we can't afford your luxury! :hell:

Us normal people desire mega-tall skyscrapers taller than the Empire State Building, the World Trade Center and any other tower that happens to be tall.

The Taller, the Better!! :P

The bigger question is, do they really believe that they will be able to stop these towers from happening or are they just trying to make a scene?
