Since the European regulators failed to approve the AC/TS transaction by the February 15 deadline, either company can walk away from the deal, upon notice to the other party. Transat has been informed by Air Canada that they will not agree to an extension of the deadline. Meanwhile, the European decision is expected in the first half of 2021 (by June).

Transat, it seems, has a plan B - and a plan C - if ever the AC merger doesn't happen. At this rate, there is a decent chance AC walks away from the deal. I think the only reason they haven't is to prevent TS from entering into talks with competitors such as Peladeau or Onex.

As long as the AC/TS deal is still on the table, TS is forbidden from entertaining competing offers.

On a related note, TS plans to resume flying in June. And according to Annick Guérard, COO of the company, they love the performance of their A321LRs and might possibly order more, including the XLR.

Pre-COVID, their fleet was 39. It will go down to 27 by next winter season. All A321/A330, except for one lone B738, which is on permanent lease. Negotiations are ongoing to terminate that lease ASAP. Needless to say that frame won't be flying commercially with TS.

^:haha: Next week will mark a full year since Air Canada has operated a long haul international flight from YYC.

I think FRA will resume at some point this year, but LHR is questionable.

On this map, YQM is connected to as many destinations as YOW is 2. Incredible.

BOD & MRS still show on RV 767 eqi, so I really doubt they'll stick around.

BOD is possible on a 7M8 like it had always been planned.

WS filed an updated schedule in OAG until May 4th. Limited Transborder schedule remains, minus HNL. (Weekly flights to PSP, RSW, OGG 2x weekly to PHX)

Interestingly YYC-OGG got extended into May as well. That route usually ends its season the third week of April.

Looks like AC mappers need a remedial geography lesson on where Ottawa actually is.

AC appears to have loaded additional long haul changes for S21. I see YYC-LHR removed until July 1st, and YYC-FRA scheduled to resume June 2 3x weekly.

AC is still doing YYZ-TLV? That's surprising; incoming travel to Israel is extremely restricted (there's even a daily cap for returning citizens).

Probably meaningless, but WS appears on LHR's terminal finder and shows a 12:10 arrival from YYC on WS060 when searching through June & July dates. This is similar to how people are speculating JetBlue is about to announce LHR flights themselves.

This could be just like last winter, where they got ad-hoc slots for summer that another airline returned. Guess we'll see what happens.

Just to be clear, both of those maps were made by me and not WS.

I don't think WS had any YUL transborder or international routes in 2019.
