NASHVILLE | Paramount Tower | 750 Feet | 65 Floors | Proposed

Tony Giarratana is at it again with a new proposal set to eclipse the AT&T Building in Downtown Nashville. According to the Business Journal, the building will rise at 600 Church Street on a park that has become a problem homeless wise...

Quote:

In exchange for Church Street Park, Giarratana would commit as much as $7 million to create a park elsewhere downtown, on land he would give to Metro, and to overhaul the look of Anne Dallas Dudley Boulevard, which borders Church Street Park. Giarratana also would oversee construction of an 11-story building downtown that would contain 100 to 150 low-income apartments and a services center for the homeless. Metro would fund construction but not pay Giarratana developer fees.

No official renderings have been released but I hope this is a stunner. 505 was sure downsized from the Adrian Smith design and Signature Tower designs.

Where is the "680ft+" height coming from?

MidTenn1 on the main Nashville thread said the height. Could be true considering this will be 60 floors and a potential 60 feet taller than the AT&T Building (making it close to 680ft).

Let's hope for the best. A new tallest is always something to get hyped up for. A lot of cities have been getting new tallests too, which is a positive trend.

Dale Aug 9, 2018 11:22 PM

I don't think that cities are getting better. But this is certainly the Golden Age of the Skyscraper.

chris08876 Aug 9, 2018 11:27 PM

Yeah unfortunately the cities all seem to have one common theme: not enough housing being built. Prices can only go so high before its a shit show, and really the lack of proper zoning, AND aggressive community backlash... is really the cause of the pain. If you provide the environment, developers will build! The higher the units, the better.

First look of this proposed tower that's clearly over 700ft+ tall.

Official word is 65 Floors and 750FT. Moderators, please put that into the headline. It looks like a stunner and I can see some Devon Tower looks on the sides.

Pedantry break:

The Daniel Burnham quote is actually "Make no little plans".

Nashville Post and behind a paywall but I got the paragraphs where it is mentioned...
Quote:

Nashville-based Giarratana LLC had the image of the planned luxury residential tower Paramount — to rise about 750 feet and to be the result of a possible land swap with Metro — go live during Christmas day at the massive The Nashville Sign located at the Broadway and West End Avenue split in Midtown. The image’s running will end today, Giarratana LLC President Tony Giarratana told the Post.

Of note, the image includes the phrase “Make no small plans.” Niccolo Machiavelli (1469-1527), an Italian diplomat, historian and philosopher whom many consider the father of modern political science, is largely credited with coining the phrase. In addition, Daniel Burnham — the late Chicago-based architect — gets credit for the phrase, too.

Prior to now, the image of the proposed 65-story tower had not been made public. Giarratana said he wanted the rendering to run publicly for the first time in a special manner.

Thread title updated. I'm always cautious about new projects' when they are announced during a slowing economy. But Nashville is one of a handful of cities that may not be affected too much by an economic downturn.

Hopefully this won't be value engineered and up like the disappointing 505.

Beautiful tower; a wonderful addition to Nashville’s skyline if it comes to fruition.

2 days ago, Chicago based Goettsch Partners, the architect, posted a clearer rendering of the proposed building.

^ cool!

the base looks like it will employ similar v-shaped column trees that goettsch is using on the U/C 110 N wacker and on the proposed BMO Tower, both in chicago.

that's apparently becoming a goettsch signature.

I noticed that as well. Do you suppose they get a deal from the plant that makes these steel supports?
