NEW YORK CITY | Urban Exhibit A

I hadn’t been to New York in a few years but was able to get back for a bit a few weeks ago.
The point of the trip was to spend time in upstate NY with family, but I did manage to squeeze
in a day in the city on each end of the trip. In those couple of days I basically took photos
non-stop, aside from when I was sleeping (or when it was raining… or when I was hanging out w/
my cousin who we stayed with in Queens). I ended up with over 1000 photos, not all of
which are worth posting, but here are around 120 of them. I may post another set later on,
too, if people are interested.

Very nice. That organic looking skyscraper is awesum!

Sweet! I'll be heading up there this fall for a visit. It's been 4 years since my last visit.

Travis007 Jul 27, 2011 12:16 PM

Great photos, I love how you were able to combine the soul and diversity of NYC's population along with the urban beauty we've all fallen in love with.

Very nice sharp photos! what camera did you use?

Danny Jul 27, 2011 12:58 PM

Thank you very much for these beautiful pictures, Sekkle!

Your pictures are brilliant, very sharp, with bright colours. You´ve captured very nice scenes. Your skylines are really amazing, vibrant!

I´m glad you hadn´t any more incident with that person. Some persons are dangerous, and you have to take care about it, even more in the Harlem.

NYC is wonderful. I have been there four times, and I promise I´ll return very soon. It´s the capital of the world.

Congratulations and greetings from Madrid, Spain!

i don't know what this says about me other than being a loyal SSP member, but this thread is so good the first thing i thought of was how good the STL twins will react.

jesus, mother of god, sekkle. the presentation here is just perfect for the photos, which are wonderful. it's like you took a big ol' pile of awesome, insanely unrelated ingredients, and stacked them into a giant sandwich from different angles like shaggy, and fed that shit to me because i am scooby doo. zoinks!

the comic book presentation of your harlem encounter was dope, the chelsea photo is brilliant, and the tall, wide angle night shot of downtown is a poster i need.

BUS!!!!!!

I feel like I've been assaulted after this insane urban exhibition :slob:

Stellar thread. Looks like you were there for Manhattanhenge (stupid name)

I was out in Brooklyn a few weeks ago and saw the sun setting, aligned with the grid of streets. It was a hazy day so the sun was a pink glowing orb nestled in between the low rise buildings. It looked massive in comparison, so crazy and of course I didn't have my camera.

Again, great shots. Post more if you have them.

Goddamn, this is almost too much. I want more photos, but I don't know if I can handle that, lol. Great photography skills you have, sekkle. Nice track as well.

Beautifully shot and put together.

This picture is like a compilation of everything that makes cities great:

Canon Rebel XTi - a few years old... it may be time for an upgrade... but I don't have the budget for it. Anybody want to buy some free photos?

yeah, I got pretty lucky with that. I guess there are only a couple days a year where the sun lines up with the streets. I didn't realize it would be happening, just wanted to get a few skyline shots around dusk. The sunset itself was pretty lackluster (no clouds, colors, etc), but it still ended up working out pretty nicely.

Now this is how you do NY proud!! Great from beginning to end! You only posted around 120 out of the 1000 you say? Well what are you waiting for, post the other 880 ASAP!

STLgasm Jul 28, 2011 2:40 AM

Standing ovation!!!!
