Nice tower.....I'm impressed that they increased the height on it!

Very elegant. I immediately knew it was a Stern.

Setbacks! Stone! Pleasing proportions. This is what cities need. I will pray for Minneapolis to have this one go through with no VEing. God bless Stern and co.

That's a great looking building. I wish my city could get a little more "stoned". This city has a weird infatuation with blue glass. Not that I'm complaining, but some variety would be nice. Congrats, Minneapolis.

It's also just outside of the Core.....Great views, ect.!

Retro-deco out of the 1990's.

Is Chicago not the Upper Midwest?

Anyway, nice looking building. There won’t be any bronze on the window panels, though.

A looker for sure. Reminds me of one that just finished in Philadelphia...also by RAMSA.

Developers change plans for driveway for Minneapolis condo tower

Quote:

Residents of the planned Eleven condos in the Minneapolis Mill District would have to enter the condo complex via a private roadway instead of the developers’ preferred route on a road that runs along the Mississippi River, under a revised proposal.

Developers Arcadia and Ryan Cos. had hoped to build a driveway off West River Parkway for vehicles to access the 39-story condo tower it’s looking to build near the Guthrie Theater in downtown.

But the parkway is owned by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, which has a high bar for approving such encroachments of its land.

Driveways off parkways can be dangerous to pedestrians and cyclists, park commissioners have said. But Ryan Cos. and Robert A.M. Stern Architects have argued that a driveway and crosswalk could slow down traffic on the parkway. Emergency personnel also preferred access from a public road.

Ahead of the board’s Aug. 15 planning committee meeting, Ryan Cos. has tentatively prepared to change its site plan so residents would get to the 101-unit condo building and parking ramp from 11th Avenue via a private road it would create behind the complex, said Carl Runck, Ryan’s director of real estate development, at the Monday meeting of the Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association (DMNA).

“We are proceeding towards city approvals this fall,” Runck said.

I'll take it...anything we can get! I just hope they don't cheap out and make it some boring 'modern' glass cube.

TallBob Sep 3, 2018 4:07 AM

Sounds like the dispute between the City (Park Board) and the developer on parking access and issues with entrances has been somewhat resolved.... I believe.

Moving through the approvals process...now 550 feet and some design tweaks.

Sweet. I updated the heights from the elevations. I also listed the floor count as 41 since that's the highest occupied floor.

I love this building. I'm looking forward to seeing it rise.
