no, you're missing the point, Mr. Defensive.

Who the hell uses cash anymore? Unless you're buying drugs, street food, hookers, strippers, or used goods off of craigslist, it's obsolete. That's why there aren't more ATM's... it's very '90's.

And who said you can only buy hookers in the night? For a comedian, you sure don't ever seem to have much of a sense of humor.

You are so fucking dense its unbelievable. MANY places are cash only, sorry, deal with it.

There aren't more ATMs because like most things are City Code is poorly done and not planned well. We need more permeable edges and ATMs would help with that.

I have a fine sense of humor, the first time you say something funny, Ill laugh.

With all the blank walls in some of the shittier designed buildings downtown, there really ought to be a lot more ATMs. It would help turn the blank walls into something slightly more permeable.

There's a BOA on the corner of 2nd and Fillmore. Is that further?

Why can't the guy just pay in cash, why is that such a big fucking deal for you? You know it actually costs money for a vendor to take your debit card versus cash? Cash is better for business.

Vicelord John Oct 13, 2010 1:34 AM

I ddnt say it was a big deal. He is bitching about a lack of atms in an age when cash id all but obsolete is all im saying.

Don B. Oct 13, 2010 3:09 PM

I use cash for everything now, even routine transactions. Banks suck ass and I want as little to do with them as possible.

I hate carrying cash, it's so much easier to deal with using a card plus you don't have to worry about losing your money if you lose your wallet. Plus I get a shit load of United Miles from my Chase Debit Card. :D

Leo the Dog Oct 13, 2010 8:03 PM

Cash is king!

I only use my CC if I have the cash in the bank to pay it off in full each cycle (to get cash back rewards).

I do like to use cash for most minor transactions though and it makes paying the bill/tip easier plus they (servers) appreciate not being taxed on their cash tips.

Phxguy Oct 14, 2010 4:31 AM

I hardly ever use credit cards, except maybe for gas or trips. Not that I own credit cards.

bwonger06 Oct 14, 2010 4:42 AM

I hate carrying change and I prefer to use a card to rack up points. Only time I pay cash is when I am at a bar, Lux/Cartel coffee or Mexican food at Charlies.

Just heard about the third or fourth fire engine scream northbound on 4th avenue under the police chopper. Wonder what's up?

bwonger06 Nov 7, 2010 2:11 AM

Wonder too. Just got back from Cibo nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

maybe an unwed black mother threw her baby off the freeway overpass.

I have some cool photos of Phoenix coming up from my recent Hawaii trip.

In other information, check out my post #36 in this thread about Phoenix here:

Excellent post Don, look forward to the photos.

FYI: There is another post very similar to yours about Phx on page 3.

Random thought:

Does it bother anyone else how poorly all the development on the Pima Indian Reservation is/was planned? They'll soon have a large spring training facility to go with a decent amount of retail, a resort & casino and quite a few offices complexes, yet none of it works together.

I would've loved to have seen the Stadium at one end of a nice "Main Street" with all the retail from the center along Indian Bend facing said street, all that nearby office fronting the 101 could've gone above the retail. On the opposite terminus of the Main Street from the stadium could've been the entry to the hotel/casino.

Something like so:

It seems like they could've easily done something along the lines of Westgate/Kierland/Scottsdale Quarter/CityNorth...a new urbanist sort of approach, but instead they just have a bunch of various developments that don't work with one another. It would've been much better for the Tribe as it would've likely meant more people shopping there on non game days and also more people hanging out in the area when Spring Training is going on.

What a wasted opportunity...

EDIT: VVV haha God Id hope not. I just whipped it up in PowerPoint in 2 minutes to describe what I meant.

^ For a second there, I thought that was actually a rendering from the reservation's planning and zoning department.

:D

Yes. There is nothing special about the appearance of that area. Definitely a lost opportunity for the tribe.

Yeah the snow was an unexpected surprise. It lightly snowed for about five minutes by me (near 32 street and Shea).
