whoa look at those updates -- what a tight squeeze!

That rendering with the building in view from the west side of Central Park looks Epic. Really. Almost on the level of a sci-fi futuristic city. Wow

:previous: Tell me I'm not seeing things here but is that the tightest squeeze in skyscraper history?
It's wall-to-wall towers!

City Wide Apr 2, 2017 11:35 PM

Great building. Glad that it is at a point where its vertical growth is easier to follow.

I'm surprised to notice how much taller it will need to climb before it has a clear view of the park. The building to it's north ain't small!

What's the deal with this crane? I remember when it got mounted that something about it made it unique in this country. Just from the photos it doesn't look different.

Wow they really are smushed together aren't they? No wonder this has taken some time. It's gonna fly soon.

artspook Apr 3, 2017 1:26 AM

considering where this is gonna end up, in the sky . .
that is the teeniest tiniest footprint . . ever . .
I know you guys have such enthusiasm for this one . .
God bless all of you . . I love that . .
but this one for me . . I'll have to see . .
I came 'round on 432 . . it even gets me to smile sometimes . .
I hope the same for this one . .
those scrawny proportions though . .

The biggest reason this has taken time is that the Steinway is already a landmarked building, and this addition rises through and not next to it. I think it was more complicated than the Hearst addition by Foster. Now that we are clear of all that, the progress should be on a more steady pace.

thats the ritz carlton.

not a bad building to have in front of your view of central park i'd say!

that will be the next neighboring height hurdle for this tower to clear.

after that it's growth will be noticed by all.

and finally when we get the facade going up no doubt even the skyscraper casuals will be stunned.

Not every tower is an Empire State Building.
To even suggest that it took you a while to allow 432 Park to grow on you in a statement in itself, but this will compliment 432 Park in such a way that everyone will notice.

The real question is: Will everyone's expectations change after 57th Street is complete?

Watching this go up along with 53W53 (and others), I don't know how we've become so lucky, but I"ll take it.

That guy has become the official updater of this building. He's got the best perk to make updates of it, since from street level, it is pretty difficult to take pictures of the building.
And now we can also say that the rebar is officially taller than the spire of the old Steinway.

Nice set of pics! It's really starting to come to life now, becoming a skyscraper.
Now I'm excited.
