Note the elevation boost, thus, CPT appears as tall as 432 Park or close to it, thanks to the 80-88 ft boost due to elevation. So when all set and done 1,550 ft + 80 ft. This will be apparent when cross referencing other towers, like 432 Park at MSL = 0' or from a far. 432 Park does get a boost due to the topography, but not as much as CPT will. All the 57th Street super talls will gain a little apparent height. Also, note the dramatic difference of 300' compared to One57. Doesn't look like 300 ft, but closer to 400' in difference as of 12-31-18.

Can see the effect in the photo below. Its one benefit of NYC from certain areas, that the skyline is slightly aided by elevation. (SF is another city in which things appear taller than they really are). But it looks cool!!!

CPT is going to absolutely dominate everything in Midtown. Jesus that is huge.

I agree. Its quite a sight. I'll tell you one tower that will also dominate, Stienway.

Even though its the tallest building by slender aspect ratio in the world, it kinda looks a little bulky from certain angles. I think the aspect ratio of Steinway will turn more heads than CPT. Not to mention pound for pound, its design is leagues better than CPT. I think its the best tower to rise in the last 20 years.

45 Broad and 9 Dekalb promise to be winners, so possibly in their final form, Steinway might have some aesthetic competition.

From renderings to reality, Steinway is a epic success. I still think CPT really should have a spire. I know sometimes folks bitch about spires (too many, cheap)... but CPT really would pull it off nicely. It just kinda looks incomplete without one, IMO based on the renderings with/without spire.

I've made some for 111 West 57 and One Vanderbilt, and a few others

From some angles, CPT and 220 look extremely close, but there's a street running between them...

True that, they do look close, I actually thought they were almost touching in your first pic and I was pretty disappointed, thought it was like China where you look out the window and look right into the other buildings windows. Weird optical illusion lol

It sucks that they are blocking each other's views. Before the developers purchased the sites, did they know this would happen? The obstructed views might drive down condo values.

I really hoped that this tower together with Steinway would make 432 Park Ave stand less out. Sadly, after looking at pictures from the skyline, except those taken more from the west, it still dominates billionaires’ row and northern Midtown when viewing from a distance. I’m afraid that will continue, even though Central Park Tower ends up quite a bit taller. The facade with the white cement and big windows makes 432 much more noticeable than CPT, which will blend more in with the sky and surrounding towers - plus the fact that 432 Park stands so alone. It completely steals the attention from CPT and Steinway in many skyline pics from afar….

The only hope is 270 Park Ave with some decent height to balance it, at least when viewing Midtown from the south

That's one of the reasons CPT is cantilevered slightly to the east. The other is the Nordstrom below. Barnett stalled Vornado's tower as long as he could.

I find that to be just the opposite. It's 432 Park and it's brightness that sometimes gets "lost" in the background. CPT will be 154 ft taller, and will be as visible (moreso due to it being taller) as the rest of the shiny towers on the skyline.

I'm really digging the tower-studded midtown skyline, not to mention Hudson Yards, downtown stuff, etc. IMO, midtown as-a-skyline has never looked better after years of "plateaued" stagnation—roof height-wise.

Extremely impressive on my way to LGA this morning; flying over the city.
