And the second big announcement of the day involves an agreement between all parties involved in the Old Convention Center redevelopment being reached. The talks have been going on for months and threatened to derail the entire project at one time. Per the Tennessean.

But, this agreement was probably the biggest hurdle the developers faced. So it looks like they are back on schedule to get this.....

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps20ebc5f3.jpg

.....$400,000,000 project back on track.

Nashville is HOT!!! :thrasher:

MidTenn1 Mar 25, 2015 6:06 AM

:omg: That's two developments that took big steps forward today that could possibly result in a Billion dollars ($1,000,000,000) of development just in downtown in the next few years.

BnaBreaker Mar 25, 2015 6:29 AM

Incredible!!!!!!!! Would it be an understatement to say that Nashville is booming? I mean the amount of development in downtown/midtown alone currently or soon to be under construction is staggering...

MidTenn1 Mar 27, 2015 1:14 PM

A summary of proposed projects in the downtown core.

Some, like the new Uptown development, new Lifeway Offices and a rumored office building on Church Street and the Arena Hotel are strictly my own speculation as to any details (and probably drastically understated).

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psbgotk0uy.jpg

So if you were concerned downtown was being bypassed in this building boom, this should help allay those feelings.

BnaBreaker Mar 27, 2015 6:04 PM

And for those outsiders As far as downtown is concerned this doesn't include the 35 story Westin and the 29/20 story dual office hotel project just off the bottom left and the 460 foot Bridgestone hq and the SoBro condo tower and 25 story hayes office tower next to Pinnacle tower just outside the bottom right.

MidTenn1 Mar 30, 2015 10:15 PM

An updated rendering of the Westin Hotel in SoBro has been released and posted on UP and gives a lot more detail as to how it will actually look.

It is actually under construction as excavation is well underway.

That looks SO much better than the original rendering.

Yep. Didn't edit when I copied it from another card. Too much in a hurry.

And the contractor is Chase, not Highwoods.

shakman Apr 1, 2015 3:45 PM

Would that be 8th and Demonbruem?

Baronakim Apr 1, 2015 5:30 PM

Close. The Westin site is bounded by 8th & 9th, facing Clark Place which is one block south of Demonbreum. Site excavation is well underway

The revised City Lights apartments on Rutledge Hill/Rolling Mill Hill.

The location:

The previous plan was rejected by the City as being too tall for the area.

A massing diagram for the Old Convention Center site showing a great deal of detail regarding its usage and scope.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psztwxaiqe.jpg

The highlights include:

24 story Office building (includes 8 parking levels)
25 story apartment building (includes 6 parking levels)
National Museum of African American Music
High end retail
Mention of a 'House of Blues'
'Creative space'

I would estimate the towers to be a little over 300' tall each.

As noted in a previous post, agreements have been reached with all parties and City approval should be forthcoming.

Lots of big news to come at Tuesday's MDHA meeting...

Is 505 and The Paramount the same?

I'm a bit confused about Tony's project on Church Street. The Tennessean reported that Tony Girarrantana has raised $60M for 505 at Fifth & Church. The article also states that 505 will be a 45 story highrise with 500 multifamily units.

What happened to the 60 story Paramount? Is it a separate project?

No. That is it.

Yes, there was a 15 story/200' reduction. The additional 200' would have cost at least another $75 million...and the thought is that it may have just been too big of a financing hurdle.

I knew it was too good to be true that Nashville would get a 60 story building. I'm disappointed it will not be 60 stories. But at least at 45 stories it'll still have an impact on the skyline and will be TN's tallest building. Although at 45 stories I now wish it had more of a signature tower look or at least something unique at the top to crown the building.

Tony needs to update his website. It's still showing the original rendering of the 505 CST office tower. Which I like and hope he can build elsewhere in Nashville like SoBro or Midtown. But it needs to be in really prominent location to have visual impact. I say get rid of the car lots on Broadway just as you cross into midtown and build it there. And, if the WES is ever built that would be an incredible gateway into Midtown.

Holiday Inn & Suites to build in SoBro

The Tennessean reported that a 14 story Holiday Inn & Suites will be built in SoBro at 4th & Peabody.

http://www.tennessean.com/story/mone...obro/25377955/

The architecture is relatively blah and uninspiring. I guess Holiday Inn isn't trying to be forward thinking in their architectural design. It's another seen everywhere type of design.
