First crane base is in.. It is right in front of Murphy's.
|
When is the crane going up? The slab under the base still hasn't been poured.

Looks interesting as a historical building but not very remarkable.
I've said this before but I think it would be good if some historic buildings were reconstructed on the waterfront. My first pick would probably be the old Hauser Stores building that originally had the naval clock on its roof. The current naval clock installation doesn't do it justice. |
It's always interesting to see the different perspectives the building will be visible from.

My guess would be either signage or perhaps a tank for a concrete plant on site. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4430/...761ee413_h.jpg20170816_170636 by Jonovision23, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4344/...56516be2_h.jpg20170816_170334 by Jonovision23, on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4388/...56526f13_h.jpg20170816_191800 by Jonovision23, on Flickr |

Still not exactly sure what this structure is for.

Probably an illustration of the development.

It looks like one of the wharves is slowly starting to come down.

They're really burning the midnight oil on this one. I was waiting for the 9:45 ferry last night and they had excavators working on site.
In related news, AllNS reports that Stewart McKelvey will be making the move from Purdy's Wharf to take up all of the office space in Queen's Marque. |

Anyone know what that tower-looking thing is on the construction hoarding?

Awesome to hear that Wallace sandstone will be on Queen's Marque. Actually, if I recall correctly, I do believe staff wanted to make that a requirement on the site as part of the approvals and the developer pushed back and got their way. Glad to see they're doing it anyways.

If you look at old pictures of the waterfront, or the few intact historical parts today, one nice feature that adds a lot to the unique feel is the relatively fine-grained pattern of buildings and hemmed in open space. Queen's Marque is going to have a large footprint but based on this photo it looks like it'll restore that feel to this area, which was completely destroyed when the land was cleared for parking.
Another aspect of this site is that it ties together two separate relative cohesive chunks of waterfront. The whole of the Prince Street axis will be filled in too, aside from one little parking lot by Market Steet. It'll be a big change from a few years ago when it felt like you couldn't go more than a couple of blocks without running into a big parking lot downtown. |
