Is this an active proposal? The file path for the rendering image indicates it was likely uploaded last July: "wp-content/uploads/2020/07/506.jpg" The permits and violations for 500 & 506 N. 13th St appear to be in a bit of a mess right now, including an open violation for work beyond scope of permits.

I know some users really wanted this to happen. UArts took the giant banner off the facade of their building at broad and pine

Holy shit the building looks way better under that banner,

Throw some spotlights pointing up at the building and some new decorations and bang it will look great.

Restoring the cornice would also be a great touch.

If they could add more design to the facade it would definitely stand out.

Are there plans for that whole block? or is the sidewalk cover just for Arthuas ?

Little known fact: Like its adjacent neighbor to the south — and long before it became a part of UArts as Anderson Hall — this building was a parking garage, Sley's Pennsylvania Garage, later leased to the U.S.M.C. (Universal Service Motors Company) garage chain, which also ran the now-doomed garage on the corner.

I wouldn't mind some Classic neon strips on the building either, the 1920's photo has neon lighting I wonder how it looked back then.

Also anyone notice in the 1920 photo that no people are around and its HD has this been photo shopped or perfect conditions?

It's NOT neon. View it full screen on a desktop [click double diagonal arrows at upper-right corner of photo, then click same arrows near upper left corner of display, then click the '+' several times to maximum zoom; click and drag to pan around image]. Those are individual bulbs set in channel letters.

What is "HD"? Take your photo early morning on a weekend for lack of people. I seriously see no indications this archival photo was photoshopped.

Im saying the photo is extra clear HD = High definition like it was taken with a DSLR.

And for the photoshop I was asking because sometimes they just remove people out of pictures and clear the photo up to make it look good.

But as you said it is just a regular picture that could be taken in the morning, just crazy not to see any people walking by or working but hey this is 1920's philly.

I'm very relaxed, wasn't taking offense or objecting to your comments. I thought maybe you meant high def, but wasn't certain you were looking at hi def view with the mention of non-existent neon. ;-)

The reason I think not photoshopped is that other than adjusting exposure and contrast, that wouldn't be considered acceptable practice by UArt's library and of course there was no such thing as photoshop in the 1920s, when the photo was shot.

Yea I had zoomed in quick and saw strips with a quick glance and thought it was Neons which I then had to search up and saw that Neons were found in 1898 and were used in current fashion in 1920's up until they weren't so thats interesting, I'm surprised Philly doesn't have more retro Neon around.

Also thats interesting I didn't know that, I'm glad UArts does not photoshop photos and keeps them as fresh as possible. :tup:
