I meant the completed tower within 4-5, but construction shouldn't be far off either.

It's great to read that Nordstroms is taking the space and the building will be under construction soon.

Nordstrom to open 1st full dept store in Manhattan

Nordstrom will own its space at the Manhattan store, which it expects will create 1,000 jobs. In 2010, Nordstrom opened a popular Rack outlet store in New York's Union Square. Company executives at the event said they are not ruling out a second Manhattan department store at some point.

Extell Announces Agreement to Build 285,000 Square-Foot Flagship Store on 57th Street

"We have enjoyed great success at ONE57 and therefore decided to develop another luxury tower along the 57th Street corridor," said Gary Barnett. "We are pleased to have Nordstrom as our anchor tenant in this new project and to be able to bring this long anticipated flagship store to Manhattan."

Nordstrom fulfills its wish-list after 25 years

So this building will use older methods. That means unlike most buildings today it would go back to methods used 60-80 years ago. If that is true this building is going to look an awful lot like the Empire State Building.

I wonder which one is going to be more impressive, the store or the tower! Sounds like they're really going all out with this one! Very exicting to see! At this rate Barnett's going to have to start planning for a third supertall now. :D

Unless Robert AM Stern is the architect this building will be all glass for sure. Didnt Herzog and de Meuron win the design bid? Maybe that was scrapped once Nordstroms signed on.

That's what I'm saying, the deparment store itself is going to be a beast. Iconic tower, iconic deparment store. Seriously high-end real esate we're talking about here.

This is so exciting for New York. I seriously gotta move back there in a couple of years to see all of these ambitious projects open up.

I'm so excited for this tower. I hope they come up with something more original CIM's box on Park Avenue.

Yeah, the department store does add to the usual excitement for this type of development. People who aren't necessarily into skyscrapers will be excited for this project. In fact, the skyscraper itself is more of an afterthought in the media.

Looks like another 400m+ skyscraper for NY. Can't wait for a first massing model or rendering to be released.
