Nope, the answer is in the message it's a broader concern.

I agree, plenty of these type of social commentary around the city. It's not specific to this building but to what it represent.

It's not a commentary on the building at all, but rather on the rich, which I guess some people would rather not exists. It's stupid and juvenile. And I highly doubt that particular piece of vandalism came from outside the neighborhood. All the more reason to get a rendering up in that black space.

Zapatan Apr 21, 2014 9:51 PM

I'm starting to think this whole project is one big joke and that they're just messing with us.

Thank you!

This is what I need to ask to those of you that are so concerned about the rich get richer: What can you do so inequality stops in NY? Please tell I'm genuinely interested. But I think the answer is quite simple really and that is NOTHING.

It's like trying to stop global warming. It's such a futile attempt

What's more the middle class "champion" Bill De Blasio (as some of you call him) is providing more affordable housing and "living" wages to address this issue. Or am I missing something?

Well i mean...i think its great that people are rich and can pump money into the economy, so long as they don't use that wealth the harm society or the make an unfair system rigged in their favor. Which unfortunately is the case on the global geopolitical scale...but i digress.

Since only the top 1% of the top 1% can afford to live in a building like this there is actually a lot the other 99.99% can do since they can easily outvote the rich. I'm not saying that is a great idea, but the average joe can certainly vote for higher taxes for the rich and in fact has consistently been doing so over the last few years.

As near as I can tell, you are making two points here:
1) It is futile to try to address income inequality through the political process, so people shouldn't complain about it.
2) The recently-elected mayor is taking steps to address income inequality, so people shouldn't complain about it.

Do I have that about right?

Ryan81 Apr 22, 2014 2:09 PM

What about height inequality? That's the REAL problem here. It's just not fair that some buildings are higher than others.

The tall just keep getting taller, blocking shorter towers' views and leaving them in the shadows.

...I demand equal height!

Nice.

Now can we get back to the building instead of talking politics? :runaway:

Nevermind :frog:

Also I think we should get back to 225 instead of politics.

Rbsanford Apr 23, 2014 12:18 AM

Or, even better, we should be back to 225 instead of 432.

Perklol Apr 23, 2014 12:21 AM

That's the best rendering I've seen of this tower yet. Smith and Gill really improved the design.

Notyrview Apr 23, 2014 1:54 AM

^that's the most amazing thing I've ever seen on this forum.

Why do I get the feeling we're in for major disappointment with this tower?

Because you're a pessimist.

There's a difference between being a pessimist and a realist.
