MONTREAL | National Bank of Canada HQ (800 St. Jacques) | 200 M / 656 FT | 40 FLOORS
So as many of you know (in the Montreal section) Broccolini just made a land purchase of $100M recently (135,000sq ft lot).
https://renx.ca/wp-content/uploads/2...ccolini300.jpg https://renx.ca/broccolini-buys-100m...elopment-site/ This site is where Place University-Saint Jacques was supposed to be built, which obviously won't be the case anymore. The land is zoned to build up to the maximum height and Broccolini is intending to build a project of 1.5M square feet, mix used (office, residential, commercial). Hopefully whatever is in store for this lot is something massive and serves as a gateway to the city. |
According to this article, Banque National will be building an office tower on this lot. 36 stories, 1 million square feet.

MONTREAL | 800 St. Jacques (National Bank HQ) | 200 M / 656 FT | 46 FLOORS
Two 200M towers proposed for downtown Montreal. 700 St. Jacques, residential tower, this one is B.N/N.B new HQ. Renders still preliminary, nonetheless, still gives an idea of what to expect.

that's freakin' awesome

looks good!

200m for just 36 storeys? sounds a bit high. Great news if its the case, but is that accurate?
1000 de La Gauchetière is 205m at 51 or 52 storeys (all office/commercial too) - am I missing something? |

That makes alot more sense ... merci!!

It has been a very long time since an office tower of this height went up in Montreal. I recall watching 1000 de la Gauchetiere and 1250 Rene Levesque rise in the early 90s, from the windows of the 7th floor Hall building cafeteria (Concordia U)

Love it. It's a very clean, 21st century office block that will certainly energize the skyline.
Curious local question, I know there is a height limit in place due to Mt. Royal but has anyone ever proposed raising the limit or know of anywhere in Montreal where it doesn't apply? |

I think most, if not all, of the city has a height limit due to zoning laws. I'm assuming these wouldn't apply to the outlying suburbs. |

A bit underwhelmed by this initial rendering for the National Bank tower. The style is pretty nice but it looks very bulky for a 200m office tower - at least the view from the west. From the south it looks pretty good. but nothing spectacular. I hope further renderings change my initial opinion.

Excavation has begun for the project! (along with Victoria Sur le Parc) Image courtesy of ScarletCoral. The fencing has been up for a few days and all the trees have been cut.

Wow, exciting times for Montreal! Both of these towers are great.
