MLB or any other US-based sports league having video games as promo items isn't news.

In the case of the CFL it is news - they've always been late to the dance on this front.

elly63 Sep 25, 2017 3:44 PM

As many CFL haterz as there are, which amazes me how people can crap on something in their own country, for no legitimate reason, that is one of the reasons why a CFL game has been delayed. It has to be more than good otherwise the haterz will jump all over it.

This foray is a good way to go about it, not only marketing to kids but putting a toe in the video game market waters before they release something on the Madden level.

I guess this is some proof from the developers on why a "major" game has not been released.

It is concerning the delay in an Android release for CFLFF. "Right now though the initial load time is ridiculous and we'd be murdered if we tried to release it in this state. I think we're going to have to quickly re-jig how assets get loaded at startup."

Gareth Wheeler, the TFC announcer, stated this weekend that they've had 10 straight sellouts, so pretty close!

Also deserving mention is last Saturday's CIS football game between Ottawa and Carleton, which drew a record crowd of 24,420 to TD Place stadium.

With the success of the Panda Game and Capital Hoops Classic, I am hoping that the new Colonel By Classic for hockey catches on as well!

Lots of cities where this sort of thing could and should be promoted. Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary (already has the Crowchild Classic), Winnipeg, Toronto, Kitchener-Waterloo, Toronto, Montreal, Sherbrooke, Halifax....anywhere I've forgotten?

Unfortunately the CIAU/CIS/Usport administration is best at doing nothing; it will be up to Sport Admins in the local areas to lead.

I've been pretty busy lately so I haven't had much time to update this thread with numbers. The Whitecaps had three days to sell playoff tickets and managed 21K, and then lined up a matchup against Seattle last night where they drew 27.8K. Both pretty good numbers. TFC are hosting on the 5th and are expecting a sellout of around 30K.

The Canada/US friendly at BC Place this November has surpassed the 22.5K mark, as well.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are proud to announce that Sunday’s Western Semi-Final halftime show will feature a performance by award-winning Manitoba country duo PETRIC.

PETRIC will perform three songs at halftime from one of the new viewing decks, including one song off their sophomore EP, 18 Ends, set to be released later this month. Prior to kickoff, the band will perform an acoustic set in the tailgate area from the Blue & Gold Stage.

Canadian Football Hall of Fame brothers Doug and Darren Flutie are set to rock the Grey Cup VIP Tailgate Party, literally.

Excerpt from OSEG Communcations:

The 105th Grey Cup Festival organizing committee today announced that the Flutie Brothers Band, featuring Canadian Football Hall of Fame inductees Doug and Darren Flutie, will perform at the Grey Cup VIP Tailgate Party, presented by Casino Lac-Leamy, on the afternoon of November 26th.

“I’m looking forward to it,” said Doug Flutie, a three-time Grey Cup champion and three-time Grey Cup MVP. “Playing classic rock with my brother Darren and our friends is a blast and playing at Canada’s biggest party is going to be incredible,” said the 2008 Canadian Football Hall of Fame inductee. “I’ve heard a lot about RNation …. the crazy fans in Ottawa … and we’re going to put on the plaid and give them a great show.”

Never heard of them, but I look forward to seeing some halftime entertainment at IGF for once!

It's a real shame that tickets are $150 per person for this event. I only paid $150 each for 4 grey cup game tickets! I think 1 drink and some appies are included with your $150 ticket to this "tailgate party"!

I'd bet if that is an OSEG event they'll treat you right.

The Canada/US Women's friendly soccer match at BC Place this evening sold out the lower bowl, which is what Soccer Canada was more or less expecting for the match.
