Westjet is what makes Calgary international airport passenger traffic soar ! Domestic traffic is pretty big there.

thenoflyzone Sep 29, 2015 2:51 AM

CA879 departs PEK in a little over 2 hours. No aircraft reg yet on flightradar.

SkahHigh Sep 29, 2015 2:22 PM

Montreal-Trudeau monthly stats are out. YUL recorded 1,601,961 passengers, up +3,7% from last year.

Domestic: 595,273 +0.7%
International: 653,815 +7.3%
Transborder: 352,863 +2.5%

YTD +4,3% with 10,643,774 passengers

When other airports publish their August stats I'll make a list.

I wish Winnipeg put out stats monthly instead of quarterly.

Nice... Félicitations, YUL.
THE DUOPOLY of Chinese service to Canadian cities is officially BROKEN!!! (Good call, Thenoflyzone) ;)

I can't tell, is that on 06R (doubtful) or 24L (and those are those buildings at the corner of autoroute 13 and la 40)?

He landed 24R and took off 24L with an immediate left turn due to some buildups and moderate/heavy rain at the airport.

Your memory is good. Those are indeed the buildings at the corner of 13/40.

According to Air China officials in this following article (french only), this new route has already sold 85% of the seats in the short term. Not too bad considering we are talking about the months of October and november, the latter being one of the worst months in terms of load factor.

Yields, on the other hand, I hear aren't too good for now. But it's to be expected on a new startup such as this, what with introductory fares and all.

Toronto still haven't published their July numbers yet. It's absolutely ridicoulus. Out of the top 100 airports in the World, YYZ is the only one which doesn't have July numbers yet.

I see they revised July numbers 'down' from 5.1%. Frankly, I'm amazed the numbers are staying as high as they are given the economic climate in Alberta. If oilpatch butts in seats are included in totals, that's probably the reason for the 'flatness' in the stats. If you're not sure what I mean, have a look at Fort McMurray stats...yikes.:tumbleweed:

Congratulations to YUL! Interesting that it's CA. Beijing will soon be the London of Asia in terms of flight activity for Canada.

They sort of have. It's displayed directly on their website, but the PDF has not been officially updated.

Actually, it's official that WOW Air are adding flights to both YYZ and YUL.... four flights a week to each city...and they are already advertising extremely low fares to Europe i.e. $149.... should really shake up the transatlantic market next year....

The $149 is from Reykjavik to Europe. You have to add $99 for YUL/YYZ-Reykjavik, plus all the fees and surcharges typical of low cost airlines (bags, seat selection, etc.). And this is per direction, of course.

Still cheap, but not even close to either $99 or 149 (both of which I have seen advertised over the past few days) for a r/t to London or Paris. More like $500 all in, which is still a good 200 to 400 less than typical fares on existing carriers.

Yeah, people in social media are really excited about this because they don't know how ULCC's work... In Europe, these carriers (Easyjet, Ryanair, Air Europa) are really handy because of the proximity, not sure if this will work in Canada. We'll see.
