It's possible, they already hold 10% and spun it off only in 2006. Shares are dirt cheap compared to a year ago.

The business case for selling it off was they could out for competitive pricing from multiple operators bidding against each other and drive down costs.

Now in this weird COVID environment they probably don't need a lot of Jazz flying but there are likely minimum flying requirements in the contract.

Perhaps cheaper to buy Jazz to get out of the contract with Jazz.

Flew for the first time this past weekend since before the pandemic on AC to YYZ. The flight was a near full 789. YYC Airport concourse C seemed as busy as usual, but a vast majority of the domestic departures depart from there.

Was sad to see the 4 year old international terminal sitting almost empty. There was a KLM A333 and a WS 787 on a gate. That's it.

AC adding Jetz service to the following routes while there aren't any sports teams to carry around:

Toronto to Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Fort Myers, Barbados, Cancun, Kelowna and Vancouver.
Vancouver to Phoenix, Palm Springs and Puerto Vallarta.
Montreal to Fort Lauderdale and Barbados.

It’s probably easy to block 100 seats at present to max out cargo payload. Longer term you’ve gotta think there’s a QR/AC codeshare in the pipeline beyond the longstanding interline agreement.

WS seeing an increase in international demand out of YYC due to the trial testing.

It also reinforces the fact that YYC, with it's limited international flights, is a good place to trial the program before releasing it to YYZ/YVR/YUL.

Today’s departure count at YOW: only 9! I’m guessing June was the last time it was in single digits.

Also, how’s this for weird: there’s 3 flights a day to YUL at 1145, 1510 and 1700. Today between 1145 and 1700, those are the only 3 flights departing.

WS has added extra flights this month from YYC to select sun destinations (PVR / PSP and PHX).

PHX will have up to 8x weekly service, at least until mid-November.
PVR will have up 4x weekly with 3 flights on Saturdays.
PSP has extra flights added on Friday and Monday.

They also removed many Sun Destinations from the December schedule too including: LTO, ZLO, ZIH, NAS, BZE, VRA, CCC, GCM, HOG, AUA, SXM, PLS, RTB, AZS, SJO, SNU, BDA, ANU, UVF, CUR, CZM, MID.

with the increase in flights announced, I wonder if the services at the airport will increase.

I guess I'll find out this week when I do another trip through YEG and YVR.

AC has also added back a few sun destinations out of YYC starting December.

YYC-OGG 1x weekly
YYC-PHX 2x weekly
YYC-IAH 1x daily
YYC-PVR 2x weekly
YYC-CUN 2x weekly

They had previously removed all non-stops to Mexico from YYC.
