I've heard United is a pretty bad airline for reputation, generally considered the worst of the big US carriers for sure. I feel like AC is trying to really shed its old reputation and wouldn't do something like clean while customers are deplaning. But you never know

I fly quite a bit and in spite of their reputation for customer service, United has been great. Had a few issues with check bags being delayed in Houston so I just don;t check a bag when I travel though there. I used to be a big American Airlines flyer but they have gone down the toilet in terms of customer service. You can trace that all back to the attitude of their CEO.

AC 8179        CRJ        D        RDU - YUL        16:15 - 18:20

Could still be winter-seasonal.

The RDU add is absolutely massive!!! :worship:

AC and Air India don't have a JV, so very doubtful of that.

Oh OK, I just thought both *Alliance so it might be the case. Very odd the AC is removing this route, I still feel like there's more to the story, it seems so out of left field and they are heavily promoting it as of a couple weeks ago

Most of Canada-India traffic is heading to DEL and the other northern provinces, not BOM.

AC maybe feels that increasing YVR-DEL to daily year round is more profitable than keeping year round YYZ-BOM.

With fuel prices on the rise, changes like this are highly likely.

As for Air India, they are a mess.

WestJet's Swoop forced to cancel 24 U.S. flights as regulatory approval held up
'We are focused on doing what is right and are working directly with those affected travellers'
CBC News · Posted: Oct 19, 2018

WestJet's new discount carrier Swoop is apologizing to travellers for cancelling 24 U.S.-bound flights.

The airline says it had hoped to have all regulatory approvals in place to operate south of the border — but one of those has not yet been approved.

That means all Swoop flights to the United States have been postponed until Oct. 27.

Quote:

CALGARY -- Swoop is resuming all scheduled flights to the U.S. after receiving its final operating approval.

The discount subsidiary of WestJet Airlines says flights that have been cancelled will resume starting Saturday.

The affected flights were from Hamilton, Ont., and Abbotsford, B.C., to Las Vegas and various cities in Florida. An inaugural flight from Edmonton to Mesa, Ariz., will take off Saturday as originally scheduled.
Swoop apologized to its customers for the inconvenience by saying

"Tag Team, back again
Check it to wreck it, let's begin
Party on, party people, let me hear some noise
FAA's in the house, jump, jump, rejoice
Says there's a party over Hamilton, a party over Abbotsford
Wave your hands in the air, shake the derriere
These three words mean you're gettin' flyin:
Swoop, there it is! Hit me!"

It says a lot about Swoop that I can't tell if this is a joke or not....

This week's AC schedule update for S19 so far:

AC92/93 becomes YYZ-SCL-EZE, days 1357, dep YYZ 2140, arr YYZ 0500
AC94/95 cancelled

So AC92/93 essentially replaced AC46/47 (BOM) in the rotation with DXB.

AC818/819 YUL-DUB is now 333 instead of 7M8.
AC862/863 YVR-DUB now mainline 333

Finally the mystery solved about DUB! Seemed like a good possibility but the speculation was driving us crazy. What about operational days, do those stay the same?

So if BOM is cancelled and so is AC94/95, does that free up another 789?

Well... sort of.

Net long-hual plane changes so far for S19:
YYZ: (-1) Mainline 767; (+2) Rouge 767
YUL: (+1.1) Mainline 330; (-0.3) Rouge 767 *assume ALG going mainline
YVR: (+1.6) Mainline 787; (+0.6) Mainline 330; (-3) Rouge 767

Total: (+1.6) Mainline 787; (+1.7) Mainline 330; (-1) Mainline 767; (-1.3) Rouge 767

Next summer AC will have 2x 787 coming, 4x 330... and by the end of summer, retire 5x mainline 767

** Note: YVR also have (+1.7) 7M8 to replace the Rouges; YUL/YYZ breakeven on 7M8 long-hual flights.

So with these latest changes, there is a lot of spare Rouge 767s for next summer. Will be interesting to see what they do with them for next summer.

As they are now all based out east, YYZ/YUL are poised to get frequency increases on existing routes or possibly even new routes. Let's see what happens.

Some of those Rouge 767s are pretty old. Maybe they're shifting them into low-use duty as they age?

I could see some seasonal Europe expansions during the summer - Rouge always struck me as designed to take on Air Transat. So, I would look at where Transat flies that AC doesn't if I had to take a guess where they'll be next.

Yesterday marked the first day of Norwegian ops in Canada.

They started their PTP-YUL runs. FDF starts later in the week.

YHM-DUB starts next March.

Looks like we now know where that spare 767 is going for WS.

3x Weekly YYZ-BCN starting in May.

They also announced YYC-ATL starting in March. Going daily in April.

Also winter seasonal YYT-FLL as well

What is the additional route from YYZ on a 789? If the EZE non-stop is gone and BOM is gone, where is that 787 going to?

Then what will they do in S20 then? Cancel a bunch of routes, or somehow find more second-hand A333s?

Right now if you add all those changes, it happens to be +1, which is exactly the net increase of fleet after the 767s are retired. Although right now the non fully-utilized planes are three different types scattered across three different bases...

I was talking about the Rouge 767s, not mainline.

You were the one saying there was slack in the Rouge fleet. More so now with YVR-DUB and YUL-ALG de-rouged.

I was saying there's a slack in 787 fleet, not Rouge.

Rouge was fully utilized, but now there are 9x weekly of slack. 4 from DUB, 5 from ALG.

But as of now, mainline will be exactly 9x weekly short in 2020 after the 767 retires. Even if there's slack in 787, there wouldn't be enough to cover the 767s. So if they don't use these 9x weekly Rouge this year, they could still move some more routes to Rouge in 2020. Otherwise there won't be enough plane for 2020?

Additional European routes will be announced at later date, these will be multiple destinations served a few times per week each. YEG and YWG will lose their token summer seasonal flights. In both cases the losses will be attributed to guests choosing the 789 through YYC over the nonstop on the 763.

WestJet still acknowledging these flights in their Barcelona presser.

For summer 2019, WestJet will operate the following European service: London (Gatwick) service from Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Toronto, service from Halifax to Glasgow, London and Paris and service between St. John's and Dublin.
