“We’re not ending NAVWAR, but just to be very frank, we’re a proud military town, and we want the military to thrive here, but if the Navy doesn’t move faster – we signed (agreements to work with the Navy) when I started, and obviously COVID has disrupted that,” he said. “But at the same time, we want to move and finish environmental and cut the ground, and they’re still discussing, you know, the value, and it’s just – I think NAVWAR makes a great deal of sense, but the Navy as a partner needs to be willing to move faster.”
"Man, developing on this disused industrial site with an exemption from CA environmental litigation is taking too long!"

"You know what would be faster and cheaper? Relocating thousands of City employees into private sector offices, demolishing several high rise office structures, litigating an eminent domain case, and fighting off multiple CEQA lawsuits!"

This is such a ridiculously obvious attempt to pressure the Navy, an organization that will not be intimidated by anything SANDAG does, it borders on the parody. Just a bad look for Ikhrata and SANDAG.

SANDAG is discussing these new central mobility hub ideas at their meeting starting in 45 mins, so maybe we'll hear more reporting after?

I'm all for moving the CMH further south, but agree it comes with potential challenges.

Here's a pic from 9th and Broadway, across the street from Diega. Does anybody know the name of the development? I was trying to find some information on it to no avail.

-Thanks in advance.

I believe it's Pinnacle 2 or actually Diega 2.

I think it's proably irrelevant because a superior court judge just invalidated Measure E earlier today.

Central Mobility Hub/Grand Central
There isn't much news following SANDAG's meeting yesterday on the new CMH concepts. Check out slides 19-29 https://www.sandag.org/uploads/meeti...5685_31120.pdf

Toll Brothers Milano/The Lindley
I noticed fencing went up around this parcel on Columbia St. Does anyone know if we'll see demolition of 445 of West Ash soon?

mello Dec 5, 2021 9:01 PM

The Measure E ruling isn't final and I'm sure will be appealed if idiotic judge strikes it down. What is logic here SD is a major urban area so somehow allowing taller buildings in a section of a city need to be studied lol. Is being West of 5 some magical thing, look at UCSD it's going to be a mini city of mid rise structures and oh my gosh it's West of I-5... Somehow we will survive.

Let's go Toll Bros hope they break ground soon.

More Hood Housing Coming!! I noticed along Market St between 47th and Euclid those tiny hills are being Terra Formed for a large development. Anyone know what's going in, hopefully not just townhouses but more dense and well designed apt buildings.

Another UC San Diego project in the pipeline. Two highrise residential towers next to the campus Trolley station. 22 and 23 stories each. This will be basically the gateway to the campus as viewed from the Trolley. It will replace some two-story housing from the 60's. This image is from the website, so not great resolution.

Just north of this project is UCSD's new Amphitheater project, currently under construction (shown below). I remember during the Mid-Coast Extension's planning phase, I always thought the UCSD station was out the way and not central enough within the campus itself, but these two projects will really tie it all together.

I recently bought a home down in Baja Malibu area of Tijuana since I figured I'd never afford a place in SD County. I found this awesome view point overlooking the rapidly growing TJ skyline and SD skyline in the distance and drove back to get a photo.

Wait does Tijuana have a new tallest?

That building in the back looks to be 400 ft or so

It's nice to see 1,316 new beds so close to the the new trolley stop. Looking forward to seeing more renders of this project once they get approval to move forward.

Update on Toll Brothers Milano/The Lindley

AMG Demolition has their banner on the project and judging by how sealed up 445 W Ash is, they're probably doing some hazardous materials abatement.

Yes Tijuana has a new tallest but not that one

There is another new tower even more east of this shot that is a few feet taller. I took a drive to the mall by Estadio Caliente and you all should do so. Many new towers have gone up in the last 3 years or so and cranes are in the sky building more. I would say Tijuana now feels like a somewhat respectable modern city with the amount of towers it now has.

Great news about Toll Brothers and I believe the UCSD project is approved it just needs the funding to be finalized or whatever the exact procedure is but I believe they should break ground on that within a year.
