Nice! Reminds me of the Trump Chicago.

I like its raw beauty in the first picture. The cladding is going to spoil that.

I just saw a thread about it a few days ago. I don't remember who posted it but I think it's in the Asia forum. Anyways, I didn't really like it at first it grew on me. I love that there are 88 floors.

I'm so interesting about the sign on the bottom of the building!

Wow, great city, looks like a less denser Chicago. And they even have their own Sears Tower/Trump.

That's because it was designed by the same architect: Adrian Smith (while at SOM).
This building was designed for much higher loads than Trump was, though. The earthquake loads in this part of China are huge. That's why it's so tall compared to everything else in Nanjing. They never attempted to build anything that tall before.

Absolutely stunning cladding.

This one if now officially topped out (should be 6th tallest topped out tower in the world by pinnacle height), if anyone wants to add that to the thread title.

The title is wrong, actual height is 450m, unless you exclude the spires in ssp.

I updated the title to reflect what SOM submitted to Emporis, but I think the floor count is off. . . just a visual count tells me there's at least 70 floors, but not much more than that. . . certainly could have 88, but that - along with the fact that the SOM documentation puts it at 66 - tells me the material is simply for marketing purposes. . . you know. . . lucky numbers and all that. . .

Never check Emporis to learn about Chinese projects. It is an extremely outdated, mistaken and incomplete database.

This tower has no antenna. Its spire reaches 458m (claimed by smithgill.com) or 450m (som.com). It should officially be the 3rd or 4th tallest topped out skyscraper in the world after Taipei 101 and SWFC, and ahead of Petronas and Sears Tower.

Well considering I can't read any of the text you submitted as "Tons of sources". . . I'll stick to the original PDF document that SOM "the architects" submitted, which is exactly what Emporis has listed. . . whether /that/ data is right or wrong, you were of little to no help :rolleyes:

I think Shanghai_Fan refers to that he got 5-6 pages search results when searching for the towers name and 89 storeys (89层 in Chinese).

Regardless if the spire reaches 450m (SOM.com claim) or 458m (smithgill.com claim), it should still be the tower's official height. Not 381m.

I guess I'll have to dismiss your follow up posts because "Xinhua" like all "news agencies" aren't a reliable source for building height data. . . I prefer blueprints or data from the actual architect. . . the latter of which is exactly what was reported on Emporis. . . so again. . . thanks for nothing :rolleyes:
