This buildings is just awesome! I had a feeling this would eventually break 1,400'. Take that 432 PA! :haha:

Top 10 future tallest:

1. 1WTC: 1,776ft / 541m
2. Nordstrom: 1,775ft / 541m
3. One Vanderbilt: 1,514ft / 461m
4. 111 West 57th Street: 1,421ft / 433m
5. 432 Park Avenue: 1,397ft / 426m
6. 125 Greenwich Street: 1,356ft / 413m
7. 2WTC: 1,349ft / 411m
8. 30 Hudson Yards: 1,287ft / 392m
9. ESB: 1,250ft / 381m
10. Hudson Spire: 1,200ft+ / 366m+

Crazy times!
The skyline is becoming immensely tall.

This project has been nothing but good news ... first it was a lame box, barely 200m / 656ft tall:

http://m6.i.pbase.com/o6/55/435155/1...57thStreet.JPG

Some time later it got a little height increase (690') and the design changed:

And now we got 1,400' of pure awesomeness:

It took its skyscraper steroids like a good tower and sprouted. Then it ran nonstop for days, and became a toothpick.

Crawford Jan 7, 2015 10:14 PM

Yeah, I'll take 1421 ft.

And 432 Park better enjoy its moment of glory. It won't be king of Midtown for long, not with 111 W57 and 225 W57 on their way.

If/when all of these projects come to fruition, the Empire State Building will be the NINTH tallest building in New York.

Think about that for a minute.

NYguy Jan 7, 2015 10:55 PM

^ And that's just as of right now. There are others we just don't have numbers for yet that could change things.

Posting these again to go with Hunser's images.

This building won't be just tall, but will also give us a glorious crown. It will also provide just a third to a quarter of the units of the nearby Nordstrom tower. About 55 in total.

Depending on which treatment it gets at the top, this tower will either be 1,421 ft of 1,413 ft.

The top five floors will be mechanical, with some open levels above that.

I think the detailed renders will blow us away, firmly placing this one in my mind on the level of the Tower Verre.

This building is teetering on perfect. The east, west, and south facades are already there. I hope they don't ruin the north face with blue glass..

I really like the bronze art deco motif. It's similar to the one atop One 57, though will probably stand out more depending on how the crown refracts sunlight and how it is lit at night.

One57 came to mind when I look at the pattern. A nice touch. We'll see if Nordstrom can play ball with these towers, or if its just a hulking behemoth.

Yes. I want to see what they have planned for the 360 10th Ave site, as well as the tower in Brooklyn, another development from JDS.

This and the Chrysler building will have the most beautiful tops in Manhattan IMHO. Just plain classy!

Speaking of which...

Have they lit the crown of One57 yet? Curious to see what it looks like. Tried looking for the One57 page but looks like it's been removed.

The crown is still not lit as far as I know.

Me too. Brooklyn needs a signature tower imo:)

It will be beautiful. It makes me wonder though, if this tower had come at an earlier time (like the Tower Verre), and needed city approvals, would Amanda Burden have considered it "worthy" of such heights?

A look back at an earlier version of the crown...
