CA1067/1068 down to 2 weekly. PVG-YEG-ORD-YEG-TSN-PVG No more DFW, which is now served via ANC. So much for the oil linkup. |
Did ET upgauge YYZ to a 77LR? I've been tracking the flight lately and it hasn't been a 787 in a while.

So that's from 3x weekly B77W last summer (1878 seats) to 6x weekly B789 next summer (3516 seats). Quote:
If we add AC's new YUL-PVG, that's 3514 more seats a week to/from China. Combined with the CA increase, that's 7030 seats next summer vs 1878 last, an increase of 374% to/from China. |
This month, the Canada-Australia bilateral gets upgauged to 9,000 seats a week (per country, one way) for services to SYD, BNE, MEL and PER, basically enabling roughly 4 daily non stops per country.
Let's see if AC announces MEL in the coming year. They are currently operating a B77L daily on YVR-SYD, and a B789 daily to BNE, for a total of 4186 seats a week one way. http://news.gc.ca/web/article-en.do?nid=1025239 |

Please please please announce A direct flight from Melbourne to Vancouver. This is the route I care about the most and would make my life easier travelling back and forth between both countries instead of transiting through Sydney or Brisbane. How they've lacked a direct link between Australia's second largest city and Canada to date is beyond me. |

Aeromexico is going full double daily on YVR, YUL and YYZ routes, for the summer at least. The last announcement I found said YUL was going to 11 weekly, and YVR and YYZ up to 10. But all will now be double daily in summer, and I'm sure they will extend it if succesful.
Last announcement here for reference. No formal announcement on the new increases, but it's on the booking engines already. http://www.routesonline.com/news/38/...ght=aeromexico |
Perth Australia to Vancouver is going to be a one stop flight forever. No chance of these cities connecting directly. I fly it a couple times a year and continue to head north through Hong Kong then onward to Vancouver. Flying through Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne does not appeal to me.

As for AC, they have no interest in PER. It's the other three they are after. Quote:
But back on topic, realistically, the best we will see from AC in Australia is daily each to SYD, MEL and BNE. I highly doubt SYD will go double daily anytime soon, not with BNE and MEL coming online. Quote:

Not sure if the numbers ultimately make it worthwhile, but if the flyertalk rumors are true and AC is mulling YVR-MNL, they could do perth as a fifth freedom from MNL. |

Many in Australia have left the Qantas bandwagon. Kind of like AC years ago, when you are the only option and offer crap service people start to look for alternatives. In Perth, it got so bad that for a long time Qantas didn't fly anywhere internationally. Pretty bad when the "major" carrier offers no direct flights overseas from the major west coast city. Think AC would have any following in Vancouver if they did the same and cut international flights? Most Canadians forget that Australia have a west coast. They fly in to Sydney or Brisbane, travel up and down the east coast and claim to have "done" Australia. |
China Airlines converting YVR to daily service as of June 17, and effective Aug. 1st, switching to A350-900 daily. It will be the airline's last 747 service. Same with EVA Air, YVR is their last 747 destination before switching to 777. Sad to see these planes retired, but daily A350 service is an amazing thing and softens the blow! TPE will now be served 19 times a week, pretty nice frequency bump! Mix of 787 (AC), 777 (BR), and 350 (CI) aircaft.

It looks like YVR will push past 22million passengers this year, up from the 20.3 million in 2015.
