Very few people use YGK airport here. There's too few flights a day and YUL, YYZ, and YOW aren't that far away, so the preference is to just to drive (for YUL or YOW) or take VIA (in the case of YYZ). Pre-COVID, Air Canada used to run 3x daily from YGK to YYZ and the flight got some ridership - just enough to keep it alive, but it still wasn't that popular. The city screwed up big time with spending millions of dollars on expanding the airport a few years ago, and one of the ways they "paid for it" was to increase parking fees. It's now no cheaper to park in YGK than it is park at a shuttle-to-terminal offlot in Montreal or Ottawa. If they want people to use YGK, they should do what small city American airports do and just offer free parking. That would get people to take international trips from YGK with YYZ/YUL connections. |
Kingston AC serviced probably suffered by the reduction in the Dash 8 fleet. Similar to London, I would rather take a connecting flight to Toronto than deal with starting or ending a flight in Toronto. And Pearson is on the opposite side of the GTA from Kingston as well. London had upwards of 10-12 AC flights to Toronto per weekday pre pandemic and have something like 4 now. I'm not sure how full those are, but I suspect that if they still had all their smaller Dash 8's, we would have more flights, and so would a place like Kingston.

YUL posted Oct 2022 numbers. (All percentages based on 2019 numbers.)

That's the highest it's been all year. International numbers were actually higher than 2019 by 1.7%. Transborder is nearly there as well. If this keeps up - and all signs point to yes - 2023 will see YUL beat it's 2019 numbers and top 20 million once again. |

However, they announced in the PR YEG-YUL at 4x daily and YVR-YUL at 6x daily but so far both of those show up at 3x and 5x respectively. Shockingly (lol) all the cut routes out of YYC and YOW aren't featured. YOW was thrown a bone about widebody service on YVR-YOW that isn't even something new. |

It seems like all Flair flights from YQB have now disappeared from the booking system, less than a week after their announcement. Does it mean that they already decided to cut those flights? They announced last week direct flights to YEG and YHZ starting next summer.

I remember the great dust plooms when these jets took off. For years, the community of about 1,800 has been served by a Boeing 737-200 series jet. Speaking of Flair, their inaugural London flight from and to Tuscon was about 6 or 7 hours late yesterday. Fog in Tuscon was the stated reason. I wonder if anyone actually took the flight to London? Can't blame the weather, but the timing certainly sucks, when they had festivities planned at YXU for the inaugural. Hope it's not a bad omen going forward.

AC didn't mention some routes that were already mentioned on here days ago as having increases (ie. YVR-YHZ going 13x weekly). I wonder if this means they are going to adjust that schedule and remove something? Or just they didn't mention all increases?
Has AC always operated YYZ-HND and YYZ-NRT with only 20 mins apart? Looks like NRT departs at 13:05 and HND at 13:25. I bet there will be some confusion there with pax maybe not realizing which airport in Tokyo they are going to (airline nerds know HND vs. NRT but a lot of people might not). Having them depart basically at the same time is kind of strange? |
