Prague: Masarykovo Railway Station
Masarykovo was the first railway station in the city to serve steam trains, and the second oldest railway station in Prague (the first is Praha-Dejvice, formerly Bruska on the Lány Horse-drawn Railway). The station was designed by Antonín Jüngling and came into service in 1845. During the Prague uprising against German occupation in 1945, the station was captured by the Waffen-SS on 8 May and 53 surrendered resistance fighters and noncombatants were massacred. Nowadays the station only serves regional and suburban trains, because the larger Praha hlavní nádraží does not have enough capacity. In 2010 it served 48,838 trains and 9.6 million passengers. https://i.imgur.com/8Z9Mc1B.jpg https://i.imgur.com/pEZhQ4a.jpg https://i.imgur.com/vEH6fI6.jpg |

The Prague tramway network is the largest tram network in the Czech Republic, consisting of 142.4 km (88.5 mi) of track, 931 trams, and 25 daytime routes and 9 night routes with a total route length of 518 km (322 mi). It is operated by Dopravní podnik hlavního města Prahy a.s., a company owned by the City of Prague. The Prague tram system (including the Petřín funicular) served 324.2 million passengers in 2012, up from 312.9 million passengers in 2011. Prague's first horsecar tram line was opened in 1875, and the first electric tram ran in 1891. As of 2019, the Prague tram network operates 882 tram vehicles, one of the largest fleets in the world. The system carried 373.434.000 passengers in 2018, the highest tram patronage in the world after Budapest. https://i.imgur.com/txYUb7I.jpg https://i.imgur.com/8nH2IOj.jpg https://i.imgur.com/CrzcIi1.jpg https://i.imgur.com/VPi0gji.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7eI7Gh8.jpg https://i.imgur.com/V2rjG5R.jpg |

The Brǎila Bridge over the Danube is basically done and due to be inaugurated in June (first crossing here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdN6elf66vg ). However, I don't think the connecting roads will all be finished yet...

Budapest: Metro
The Budapest Metro is the world's oldest electrified underground railway system and the second oldest underground railway system with multiple stations, after the originally steam-powered London Underground. Budapest's first line, Line 1, was completed in 1896. The M1 line became an IEEE Milestone due to the radically new innovations in its era: "Among the railway's innovative elements were bidirectional tram cars; electric lighting in the subway stations and tram cars; and an overhead wire structure instead of a third-rail system for power." In 2002, the M1 line was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. https://i.imgur.com/hU4o35O.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7WBmvRZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/MvSKjKt.jpg https://i.imgur.com/nVYdXdv.jpg https://i.imgur.com/DByqbfz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/j4BhBuo.jpg https://i.imgur.com/G3WBz2D.jpg https://i.imgur.com/s6inWpF.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qn9Qvrn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/GQhgBL6.jpg https://i.imgur.com/2cyz9PJ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/EefS3vj.jpg https://i.imgur.com/vgsWsop.jpg https://i.imgur.com/l8aqpQH.jpg https://i.imgur.com/HIrzrz0.jpg https://i.imgur.com/JH6HkFO.jpg |
