AC is supposed to get 17 A220s next year. Wonder why they didn't' launch YYC-BOS straight with the A220. Seems to me it's better suited for the route. That being said, the A220 has 17 more seats to fill than the A319, so that might have been a factor. |
I'm curious if WS will counter by adding its own YYC-BOS service. Quite amusing AC beat them to the punch on this one. :haha:

This year is was a lot shorter due to the MAX. Last year, before the MAX saga began, was approx May 15 - Sept 30. Currently AC schedule only require 5 A220 for the summer season, with very low utilization rate (~9.5 hr/day on average), so there should be more routes coming. But still, all flight so far are based at either YUL (starting from Jan) and YYZ (starting from May), so they would need to recieve enough plane to establish a third base before starting YVR-BOS or YYC-BOS. |

If WJ was going to launch service to BOS it will most likely be year round. |

What’s the plan for the remaining 7 DH1s? Will they still be flying exclusively out of YTZ in summer 2020? When is their retirement? |

The AC Express fleet will drop from 146 this year to 132 by the end of next year. |
I am doubtful the 2nd YVR-EWR flight will even happen, hence why it is scheduled with the MAX. I don't think they would even need a 2nd flight, seems like an placeholder or something since they aren't sure if the MAX will be back. The YYC-BOS is more likely to materialize, and is fully a shot fired to WS since they haven't tried that route yet. The BNA route makes the most sense, and is on the right equipment for it.

The winter months will be handle by DL for converting their YVR-JFK route to year-round. |
It is the MAX aircraft assignment that worries me, if they had it as a 319 (like it used to be in the old days) or anything else, I'd be more sure. But assigning it the MAX means they are very loosely committed to it.
Yes I just saw on airliners.net that DL has extended JFK to year-round (starting 10 weeks earlier this spring than last year, and so far loaded all year). Definitely this is good news, and a smart move by DL to strengthen this route. We all knew 5th freedom CX route would be cut eventually, there was no reason for it now that the necessary aircraft are commonplace to do long distances. I wonder how much of the flights were YVR-JFK O&D and how much was JFK-HKG staying on the plane. |
