yes they have been moving floors around. as I understand it that's the main reason Vista is not contributing via the affordable requirements ordinance

This one is probably closer to ~970' if you scale it to the top.

scaling that image, i get 972' to the top of the mechanical penthouse, if in fact "ground level" is 0'-0" (bit it's not listed as such on the elevation).

the whole notion of where "ground level" is on this project is a bit nebulous. if they're calling "ground level" the top of the podium that the tower sites atop, than this one would be over 1,000' when measured from actual grade.

I've mentioned this before but with the height boost, it rings even truer- This tower's shape will compliment 400 N LSD's towers so perfectly. I look forward to cruising into the mouth of the Chicago River with these two inverted twins towering over me.

Awesome news about the height increase :)

I think it makes up for Wolf Point's cut, at least a little

Even in Chicago ~970 feet is nice

Hopefully this will push 400N higher? As far as I know the 1100' figure isn't set in stone

I thought it was 1200' ? really kool

To me the renderings makes it look like this building is ripping apart!

the height figures disclosed for 400 N LSD are 1,100' and 850' for the two towers.

those are obviously rough ballpark figures at this point in time.

the exact height figures will be determined as the buildings go through proper design work.

970 is gigantic, taller than 311 S Wacker.

PittsburghPA Sep 26, 2018 10:19 PM

14 more feet would push it to supertall. Fingers crossed..

I don't check in on this forum for one day and I miss out on this news bomb? 2023 can't come soon enough... I am so excited to see how the city develops!

2023? That seems so far away

I take it this thing won't be starting that soon then. At least we have an awesome tower to look forward to.

Yeah, it's the last tower to be developed for the Lake Shore East plan, so that's my very rough estimate, assuming the next tower doesn't start until at least summer next year.

There is no podium in that drawing. It looks to me that "ground level" here means even with Waterside Dr. And that's what, 30 feet above Lower Wacker? Then there's the mechanical screen. So 1000ft seems feasible.

I mean it's almost exactly 1000' from grade, the question is whats going on with the podium and whether there will be an entrance at the bottom level of the podium like with Vista.

Man, I've got major respect for Magellan. It's one bold development after another with them. This is one developer that's proven themselves to actually care about the city's architectural legacy. Whether bear or bull market they've stuck with it. My only concern around LSE is that it be more seamlessly woven into the city's fabric.

PittsburghPA Sep 28, 2018 3:51 PM

This article shows a rendering of a pretty substantial podium.

guys, this thread is about the LSE site I tower project exclusively.

it's not the place to debate the origins of large-scale master-planned urban developments.

^ holy crap @ that last shot!!!

that's gotta be one of the grandest entrances for one of the humblest rivers anywhere.

Donnie77 Sep 28, 2018 6:00 PM

Not to nit pik but if you look at original renderings aren't the balcony to the east?

Regardless, awesome job on animations!
