Both towers will be 'mixed-use residential', I assume that means multi-family/condos and retail.

Australian developer acquires more land in Midtown

Quote:

Caydon Property Group has acquired more land in Midtown for a mixed-use project anchored by a luxury apartment tower.

The Melbourne, Australia-based developerpurchased a 41,000-square-foot site on a half city block bounded by Main, Dennis and Fannin streets. Current Standing Developments — formerly known as PLC Capital Corp. — sold the property to Caydon for an undisclosed amount. The deal closed on Aug. 2.

Caydon plans to develop additional high-end residential, retail and a large parking garage on the site, which sits two blocks north of its luxury apartment project.

Not sure if it's tied to construction of this project, but on HAIF 'MarathonMan' saw some soil sampling taking place this morning

Quote:

Soil sampling this morning on the block just north of Caydon’s high rise construction site. Preparing for The District Tower I, possibly? For reference, this is the art supply store parking lot on the south side of Dennis between Main and Fannin. You can see Caydon’s tower crane and the nearly-complete Camden Midtown in the background.

Caydon buys more land for Midtown mixed-use project

Quote:

Australian developer Caydon, now building a high-end residential tower in Midtown, has acquired an adjacent parcel to complete what it says will be a three-block mixed-use development.

The company purchased a 30,000-square-foot property at 2711 Main. The site houses an art supply store, which will relocate in early spring 2019, the developer said Thursday.

"It's a phenomenal accomplishment for Caydon to secure the third parcel which brings us one step closer to delivering an exciting mixed-use district in one of Houston's most lively neighborhoods," Caydon principal Joe Russo said in a statement. "Caydon takes pride in creating developments that encourages a sense of community and supports people's health, happiness and a desire for a convenient lifestyle."

Are the Aussies building this thing? They surely have some AU$ to invest everywhere...
Heck, that would be hot. I would steal it then run.

Very nice renderings, but do y'all really think this will be built here in Houston? Too daring and non-conservative.

Seems to me that increasingly, Houston is going outside-the-box.

Arguably, until recent years, NYC has been pretty conservative.

By late 2019, the developer will break ground on its mixed-use project that, along with the residential high-rise, will span about three city blocks when complete.

The Australian developer is eyeing the Museum District, Montrose and Midtown for future projects.
