Filings with the FAA show two towers which may become the tallest in Midtown are planned near the new McGowen Park. If plans move forward as indicated, the buildings will rise simultaneously with construction beginning in early 2018.

Updated FAA links reveal that Caydon Group out of Australia is the developer; Gensler is the architect. This will be thier second and third high-rise for Midtown.

Both towers will be 'mixed-use residential', I assume that means multi-family/condos and retail.

Australian developer acquires more land in Midtown

Not sure if it's tied to construction of this project, but on HAIF 'MarathonMan' saw some soil sampling taking place this morning

Caydon buys more land for Midtown mixed-use project

Seems to me that increasingly, Houston is going outside-the-box.

Arguably, until recent years, NYC has been pretty conservative.
