^^^ I would be so pissed if we missed out on 7th/12th and market because they were city owned parcels and lagged so damn hard on getting them permitted and green lit that we miss out on them this cycle. That would be very tragic. If those were private lots they would have been almost finished by now what is the city's damn problem these are game changers let's roll?

Regarding other EV projects so is Alexan what was supposed to be library tower back in the day or is that another tower? I thought that one was all set to go with Luke Daniels and his development partners.

Me too, especially 7th/Market. For us who have been on here for years, we can remember the previous planned developments for this site that had renderings for things never came to fruition; the last one I think had to do with a conflict of interest of the then head of CCDC. In retrospect I think it was good because the current proposal looks much better - is there a projected ground break date for 7th/market ?

Alexan (pictured below) is across the street to the east of the project that was supposed to be the Library Tower.

So then what is going on with that 24 floor project that is approved on the Library Tower site? When is that going to get rolling, I thought it was a go

Man wasn't Library Tower supposed to be like 45 stories tall?

:(

Bosa bought that site before any building could commence. I have not heard any plans about what Bosa plans to do. Presumably, he'll wait until his other towers are up and sold out before doing anything there. With how much downtown land he owns, he essentially controls the condo building market by being able to limit supply.

spoonman Jul 22, 2016 8:01 PM

^Yeah, that is really unfortunate. "The Block" is, in my opinion, one of the most important projects downtown. It will help to clean up a pretty trashy area of downtown and will add more height to the area between the gaslamp and core/financial district.

mello Jul 23, 2016 12:17 AM

Why do all these guys always sell out to BOSA? I don't get it tons of projects going on in DTLA why don't some of those big players come down here and try to challenge the Bosa hegemony on DTSD? The market looks solid you would think someone else besides him would try to come in here and do big things.

spoonman Jul 23, 2016 4:38 AM

We had years of major development while nothing happened in DTLA. Would be nice to see other major players though besides Punnacle and Bosa.

Me too, I do not understand why the trolley doesn't go up park blvd or up the median of the 163. It makes absolutely no sense to me. It would connect 2 of SD's entertainment districts, and when people drink they take mass transit, not to mention the tourists who would use it as well.

It's really interesting you mention the 163. I had always thought of the trolley going up Park, and had never really thought of the 163 until a few days ago driving on 163 out of downtown and thinking a trolley line could go up the center. I realize both a Park or 163 line would have their challenges, but would be such a great addition to link the central core together.

They're stating construction on a parking garage in front of Terminal 2. One thing that I learned was that they say they're going to start work on replacing Terminal 1 in the next few years.

Cisterra/7th & Market/Ritz wins final design approval:

http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/...oved-downtown/

"Barring an appeal to the San Diego Planning Commission, all that is left before construction can begin is City Council approval of a comprehensive agreement spelling out the terms and scope of the housing, hotel and office development. That agreement already has been approved by the Civic San Diego board of directors, which oversees downtown development."

"While Cisterra already has consented to a labor agreement that would ensure the hiring of union workers for the construction of the project, it has been unable to persuade Ritz Carlton and Whole Foods to commit to doing the same."

"Unite Here organizer Rick Bates said he does not know yet whether the union would appeal the Civic San Diego action."

It sounds like everyone is ready to go, barring any union-led opposition.

Let's try not to start racial arguments here. We can save that for HRC and BLM.
