I'm starting this because Creighton and Millennium are going up.

I certainly don't recall it. Great news! That area is going to be dense and lively! I hope they can add more retail in the future. Fairly limited retail space right now even with the remodel. Just a few restaurants and nothing really sit down besides breakfast.

Bummer Home two suites is kind of a shitty brand I was hoping for a more substantial hotel brand for that spot and for this project.

Like an actual Hilton, Marriott, Sheraton or something.

It looks like the hotel is a mixed up name of Home2Suites and Tru by Hilton, which are both Hilton brands, but of course not as nice as an actual Hilton hotel. I believe the Tru by Hilton brand is a bit nicer and more modern. Hopefully that’s what it is.

I think there already is a suites hotel around there. Must be a lot of business based stays for periods of weeks. I guess it could also be them anticipating more demand from St. Lukes and the medical school. Maybe some professors will just be semester long assignments and don't want to deal with renting or buying?

I stayed in a suites style hotel for 5 weeks in Baltimore for training. Could easily have stayed for a few more months based on the accommodations. The only issue was that downtown Baltimore was a food desert back then (Early 2009) so without a per diem I wouldn't have lasted. In contrast there is a Safeway and Sprouts pretty close to Park Central.

-----edit-----
Lol, I just ran a rate for the Extended Stay on Osborn and from the period of January 4 - April 30 it was almost $10k. So I take back professors wanting to take that route.

Saw this notice for a hearing on a corporate flag today.

Is anyone else disappointed with the Park Central renovations to the existing buildings? I noticed that they ripped out the clock tower and the timeless MCM architecture.

Fluff piece on the Home2 Suites/Tru by Hilton dual-branded hotel coming to Park Central:

https://azbigmedia.com/real-estate/h...the-art-hotel/

I didn't see anything in the article justifying the "state-of-the-art" headline, but the description does make sense for the area--extended stay aspects of Home2 for people visiting and working at the medical school, and younger-oriented aspects of Tru for the medical students' friends.

I agree that they are talking about the SWC. When I was by the Millennium site last week, they had heavy equipment and were drilling. I was by this morning and only a parked water truck and a surveyor.

Can you guys help me understand where everything is going at Park Central? I'm really glad to see this filling in and my wife works right next to it so we are curious. This is not to scale at all, but a rough idea of where I think things are going. Where is Millennium? Thanks!

Its going to be squeezed in between the Parking Garage and the Med School.

I imagine the rest of the property will be mid rise office buildings like Skysong.

Maybe another hotel on the backside by the hospital.

Also wouldn't be surprised if the short 2 floor parking garage will be torn down once the big one is done.

phoenixheadphones Feb 7, 2020 7:41 PM

Thank you! That's what I thought, but it's so much to keep track of. This is another part of town that is going to look unrecognizable in a few years. Wild

Classical in Phoenix Feb 14, 2020 2:03 AM

The on again/off again construction on Millennium was on again today with digging going on. Didn't have time to take a pic.
