Its amazing how dense Buckhead is becoming. Awesome photos KCgridlock

WZ1 Oct 16, 2006 3:55 AM

Sweet.. how do you get above every city?

INDUSTRIAL PULSE Oct 16, 2006 4:01 AM

Is it weird to say that I don't GET Atlanta? It's just made so differently.....
Great pics thanks!

BnaBreaker Oct 16, 2006 4:03 AM

Great photos. Midtown Atlanta has some of my favorite individual building designs anywhere. I don't care how dense it is though, it still has light years to go before it can be truly wonderful, vibrant, and successful as a built urban environment.

jcchii Oct 16, 2006 4:11 AM

atlanta underrated as it starts going vertical.
that place is going to be nuts one day

it really is LA east. Not as influential, but it's ready to take off.
the winding streets like that in the middle of so much building looks asian. kuala lumpur or something. Nice set.

ColDayMan Oct 16, 2006 4:11 AM

The individual towers in Midtown Atlanta I agree are wonderful.

blackc5 Oct 16, 2006 4:16 AM

Impressive amount of greenery - it looks like towers coming out of a forest. Are these on the edge of town or something, or is there just that much greenery that it blocks normal residential in these shots?

Hybrid0NE Oct 16, 2006 4:16 AM

Very AWESOME pictures! You must own a helicopter or have connections to someone that does... Does anyone know what mountain that is in the background of the 2nd picture above 1180 Peachtree (Symphony Tower)?

Shasta Oct 16, 2006 4:17 AM

Wow. Some of those new projects are HOT. Good on Atlanta!

Dr Nevergold Oct 16, 2006 4:24 AM

Thanks for showing the good side of Atlanta, impressive photos.

jcchii Oct 16, 2006 4:30 AM

6 and 7 look like a bangkok building zone

mSeattle Oct 16, 2006 4:36 AM

Yea, what everybody else said.

Heh, not at all. Especially compared to Canadian cities, it is VERY different in layout. It looks like a forest with tall buildings sticking out from above.

In any event, great pics.

bobdreamz Oct 16, 2006 4:41 AM

great pics as always KC but Atlanta looks so suburban...where is the rest of the city?

tecmsu06 Oct 16, 2006 4:44 AM

that mountain would be stone mountain I'm guessing.

The-New-Tony-Detroit Oct 16, 2006 4:56 AM

symphony tower certainly adds miles to the midtown skyline.

great work!

KCgridlock Oct 16, 2006 4:56 AM

Thanks everybody, In defense of Atlanta, the city is developed, but the trees cover up everything under 2 stories, especially from the angles these photos are taken from. They don't have towers sticking out of the trees, but they do have very low rise, typical single family homes, apartments and stripmalls with towers right next to them. In that sense, Atlanta is sort of odd, but not really any different than Dallas, Houston, Phoenix or even Denver, Minneapolis etc.

Here are some more pics of the areas north of Downtown, the next part will be Downtown. Enjoy...:)

edit (pics moved to first post)

BardSeed Oct 16, 2006 4:57 AM

The mountain is actually Kennesaw Mountain, I'm pretty sure. It's NW of Atlanta. Stone Mountain is east. They are about the same height though.

...you can see Stone Mountain clearly in the last picture of the first post, just above the Four Seasons.

I'm could have sworn the original picture in question disappeared.

OhioGuy Oct 16, 2006 6:02 AM

These all look great. I really must visit Atlanta one of these days. Looks like a fab city! :)
