You may want to read the link I provided. It does not ban EU passport holders from entry to the US.

The same with China. The China ban that has been in place now with a little while does not ban anyone based on the type of passport they have. It bans them based on where the have spent the last 14 days. It then introduces some exceptions for air crew, US citizens, permanent residents, the relatives of US citizens etc.

It effectively does... but yes not per se... it is any foreign national who has been in the EU (specified free movement area) anytime during the previous 14 days prior to their arrival. Plus foreign nationals are subject to extra screening now - if you are ill trying to enter the US, they can bar you subject to testing at their discretion.

So a Canadian would be denied US entry if they visited Paris just days before business in NYC - transiting tru YUL. However a foreign national that has spent the past 14 days in Canada before entering the US should be OK - not guaranteed tho.

Exactly. There have been a number of Canadians denied entry over the past few weeks because within the previous two weeks they had been to China or Iran. There is no shortage of people who hold European or Chinese passports living in Canada or other countries that can still freely enter the US.

For this to all be legal and not challenged in the courts in the US it has to be based on a legitimate risk and not which countries the US president personally likes.

The Chinese airlines are still operating flights into the US, they have just dramatically reduced frequency of service. I think the same will start to happen from Europe tomorrow.

My prediction is come tomorrow Air France may decide to switch from multiple daily flights to New York to just one flight. A city like Seattle may well have its Air France/Delta service to Paris dropped and instead there would be increased connecting traffic over Vancouver.

Their booking system has been updated; Medicine Hat and Lethbridge are both cancelled as of April 1. There may be other destinations, however these are the only two I could find.

Trump is just showboating. It’s too little too late really. The US already has over 1,300 cases of COVID-19, and almost 40 deaths. Those numbers will keep climbing in the next 2-3 weeks.

And what’s this nonsense of excluding the UK for some reason? The UK has more cases of COVID than Belgium, Austria, Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Finland, Iceland, Hungary, Croatia, etc.

LHR has more flights to the US than any other European airport. Someone should tell Trump he’s not containing anything as long as the UK still has access to US flights.

Cranbrook is losing the direct flight to Calgary, and looks like Medicine Hat, and Lethbridge will be reduced frequency (but larger craft). Hope I am getting this all right.

You would expect a country like the US uses fact based decision making and unlike a banana republic does not make decisions based on the personal relationships of its supreme leader with other countries.

Trump was pushing for the UK to leave the EU. (Why a leader of the US would touch that file is questionable.) Trump does not get along with the EU leadership in general.

As expected, AC suspended YYZ-TLV from March 17-31.

Weird, these flights are still in the AC schedules for summer? But the booking engine is all wonky with some days available and some not. Is that what happens when flights are getting in the process of being removed?

It wasn't even that long ago (mere weeks!) when everyone thought this was just a China thing and YVR would be the only airport really affected because of it's exposure. Now look what this mess has turned into :( I really hope this short pain and isolation will cut the virus spread right down, and we can move on. If all of these "draconian" measures are done and it doesn't improve, then..

I checked YOW-LHR a little more in-depth and at this point AC888/889 appears to have been cancelled from 07APR20-29APR20. Still showing the upgauge to a 330 as of 01JUN20.

The seasonal YOW-FRA that LH are taking over from AC is still showing as launching/resuming on May 16th at this point.

Total international is 1,108,823, compared to 1,084,619 for YVR. So already ahead, even before the coronavirus really hit the YVR numbers.

Too bad. As these numbers show, YUL was going to have a great year, yet again. Alas, that scenario is no more.

Yeah I'd imagine both YUL and YOW will have very good February results thanks to the Via blockades most of the month. There were lots or Rapidair upgauges during that period.
