:haha: True, but I'm hopeful. They have the same number of year-round flights to Europe, like two more Transborder flights. Not bad for less than 50% the air traffic. We support a lot of direct seasonal flights to the States, same ones as HFX. We're definitely busy enough to buy back the Dublin connection. Fingers crossed. I will book a vacation the day it's announced. And there are probably close to 10K people with the same thought. The petition got "tens of thousands".

It’s an interesting development for YUL.. I’ll add this post from Simpleflying which explains that Ethiopian will seek a third modification to the Canada-Ethiopia air agreement to get permission for the flight. I doubt they’d make the effort if they thought it was unlikely. What incentive is there for an airline to do that though? I don't think any of them are running with empty seats to need to land in St John's to pick up more people. So then they need to sell the same number of seats YYZ-YYT as they would YYT to wherever in Europe. Now that flight becomes less desirable since it's not a non-stop anymore, so the originating revenue will drop, with that as well as the costs of landing and taking off again and the associated labour costs involved with a stop and a longer flight being made up by the St John's passengers.

so just finalised my first trip to Kitimat. Current work force for the LNG is about 1000 most of whom fly in. In 2 years that will go up to 7000.

Northwest regional Airport in Terrace is up about 20% this year, or so I was told. There are charters in from YEG and YYC plus a Schedule direct to YYC now. and quite a few to YVR.

I wonder to one of the majors will add a direct from YEG since a good number of those working the project fly from there.

What's the story behind this one? Are there any cultural or business links to Ethiopia from Montreal? Seems like one the less likely African destinations, considering how many former French colonies there are.

Not good hub but excellent hub.

Air Maroc, Tunisair and Air Algérie are about O&D. Ethiopian (at least at YUL) is all about connections. They’re no different than QR or TK, the only difference being QR/TK have volume. ET doesn’t. Their ops at ADD pales in comparison to TK at IST and QR at DOH.

This being said, Africa is another beast altogether. If they formally requested YUL, then they see something there. Personally I think they’re picking at scraps, but we shall see what happens.

WestJet & Virgin Atlantic to begin a codeshare agreement as of this week. LGW-YYC/YYZ/YVR & YHZ all appear to now be bookable via Virgin's booking system.

Looks like TAP is finally starting YUL in 2020. Cant really read portuguese but its looks like 6 weekly with A321. Also seems like they are increasing YYZ.

Yes, six flights per week (not Thursday) using A321-LR. Having just booked flights to Lisbon from Montreal, I was surprised at the lack of options.

AC rouge has 3 weekly service
TS has 5 weekly summer and 2 weekly winter
