It's a really nice tower and I hope it gets built.

Troubadour Jul 28, 2010 2:05 AM

It's better than a glass box, but not by much.

Quite the stunning design, simple yet powerful. I'm impressed, Mumbai. Let's hope we see it go through to completion.

The Lodha World One Could Have Brought A Better Height If Designers Added A 50-60 Meter Spire On Top. It Falls Short Of Nanjing Greenland Fc Tower In China By 8 Meters Only And Thats Silly. Add A Sphire And Cross 500 Metrs Atleast.

ALL OTHER COUNTRIES ARE USING RIDICULOUS MEANS TO GET THEIR TOWERS TALLER. NORTH AMERICA IS BEST AT IT, i.e. THEY INCREASE BUILDING HEIGHT DRASTICALLY BY ERECTING A SILLY SPIRE, e.g. BANK OF AMERICA TOWER, NY. SO INDIAN BUILDINGS SHOULD USE SPIRES TO CHALLENGE THE BEST. :hell:

brian.odonnell20 Aug 29, 2010 6:03 PM

spires are an important, accepted part of a building's aesthetic. Without a culminating point, a lot towers look incomplete and tacky. Of course, that is not always the case. But believe me when I say that spires aren't added just to boost the height. Some even make the whole look of some buildings.

VISHWASHANTI Sep 4, 2010 9:08 AM

GOOD THING THAT SPIRES HELP TOWERS GETA COMPLETE LOOK. I FEEL THAT THE LODHA WORLD ONE DOES NOT LOOK COMPLETE WITHOUT A SPIRE. SO THE DEVELOPERS MUST ADD SOMETHING DAZZLING ON TOP TO GIVE THE BUILDING A DIABOLIC LOOK. WHEN U BUILD TALL, THEN YOU SHOLUD GO TALLER IF ITS EASY TO ACHIEVE.

DEVELOPERS OF THE PETRONAS TWIN TOWERS ADDED THE SPIRES ONLY TO GET IT PAST THE HEIGHT OF THE WILIS TOWER. SO ITS NOT WRONG TO SAY THAT SPIRES ARE USED TO ENHANCE HEIGHT.[/COLOR] :sly:

100+ floors and only 3 elevators?

Do you have to reserve your trip in advance?

phillyskyline Sep 5, 2010 6:15 PM

Kinda looks like the Trump Tower in Chicago, hope this thing gets built. Its impressive that its a residential skyscraper and not a commericial skyscraper.

There will probably be several elevator shafts in each of the sections labeled Lift. Perhaps each of the three sections will service different parts of the tower, like if you are going to the 20th floor you use Lift 1, going to the 60th floor use Lift 2, etc.

That would make sense, but the drawing indicates 3 elevators and not three elevator bays.

I hope Im wrong. I had a friend who lived in a 32 floor building. Each floor only had two apartments, but the building only had two elevators, the main one and the service one.

Waits could be quite annoying.

Um... The Willis Tower is 1451 feet... Taller than The tacky World One and also the Willis Tower's spire soars to 1730

Mumbai property rises above slums

By Joe Leahy and James Fontanella-Khan in Mumbai
October 3 2010

Quote:

Mumbai property developer Abhisheck Lodha is flanked by architects and engineers flown in from New York as he expounds on his plan to build the world’s tallest residential tower.

He hopes the 450-metre, 117-storey building planned for Mumbai’s midtown area – to be known as World One will help to propel India’s financial capital to the top ranks of the world’s ultra-high-rise cities, alongside New York, Hong Kong or Shanghai.

“Be it the Opera House in Sydney or the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, every city gets associated with an architectural landmark and our feeling was that Mumbai for long has been devoid [of such a structure],” says Mr Lodha.

World One is the most ambitious development in a new wave of super-tall apartment towers springing up around Mumbai. These gated developments, a mark of India’s rising economic clout, are not only changing the city’s skyline but also its social fabric.

NYguy, I moved your post over from the India Tower thread over to this one. :)

World One will start to rise above ground level from its 5-metre thick concrete foundations next month. While it must still negotiate an often-tangled regulatory process to get permission to climb above 90 storeys, it should meet its end-2014 deadline.
