My (possible) city work in progress.

I'll be calling it - Atlantes. I'm hoping to add whatever comes to my mind. As of now it consists of districts, a river way, and an ocean, probably the Atlantic Ocean. The structure of it is around 300,000 square feet (at this point - on a 30 mile each way), and I'm hoping to expand.

Wish me luck.

Is there a way to do dimension on miles in SU?

Take care.

Very realistic looking and interesting shoreline! Should give a great layout.

fordgtman1992 Mar 8, 2010 11:14 PM

Loks great! To measure in miles, type "mi" in the box

Example: "30mi"

Here's an update to my city scape Atlantes:

I added some buildings (and still got a lot more to go), I am using the Modelur plug-in, so I got a lot of work to do. I hope I can conjure something up. Thank you for seeing my works.

I made it the Southern Financial District, will be adding more concepts shortly. Stay tuned.

looking nice, has a sleek feel to it, I see your going for a Dubai style look.

Foun10Head-X Mar 13, 2010 6:54 AM

Thanks for the feedback Pingyao. For the Dubai look, not quite in my opinion, but it's a start. I just been working on shapes and designs via SU and using Modelur as a scaling/elevation. Here's the inner skyline.

b. Luma Tower (a work in progress: 1800 feet)
c. 2 World Towers (1200 to 1400 feet)
d. Lossless Tower (1200 feet)
e. iCom Tower (2 towers: 800 to 1200 feet)
f. Place d'Uni (500 to 700 feet)
g. Century City (both 800 feet)

I like but dont lose your buildings giving them all the one height.

Foun10Head-X Mar 24, 2010 5:41 AM

Here's a snippet of the Financial district, Alphau - a district alongside Atlas City. Still got a while to do. I'm really new in the texturing department with SU, so I decided to do a little bit of material texturing, procedual, the rest I'm hoping to do most of the facades as textures in a paint program, all in all I'm proud of what I did and hope to finish the first block and on to the next one when I get the time. The tallest building so far is the Luma Tower (the shiny light blue) at 1600 feet, the second largest is the Luma World Trade, the one to the right at 1500 feet.

Comments and critiques welcome, and thanks for looking.

Ooh nice, lots of shiny modern towers. You have some nice designs in Atlantes (Hope it doesn't go the way of Atlantis!). My one comment would be to introduce a ground level scale i.e trees, streetlamps, just some way of grounding all these huge structures in a context. Maybe focus on the waterfront detail bring some parks in. I know street level detail can be labor intensive, but the pay-off is worth it. It would look with some boats or yachts when seen from the water.

you forgot to name those H towers :P

love the H towers, their design in simply elegant.

Vellu Mar 30, 2010 6:43 AM

There's a lot of great designs. I especially like the 2 World Towers and the Union Hall.

Foun10Head-X Apr 1, 2010 3:47 AM

Thanks to all comments, I really appreciate them. Well, I did some more renders of the Luma Park section of Atlas City, as you can see I tried to muster what detail I can come up with just for that section alone - at 25MB... Here's first render I did in a cloudy scene, I had to enhance it a little bit to give it some kind of life.

As you can see again, Luma SuperTower [Tour Luma] at 495m; 1625 ft., the heart of Atlas City and the tallest mixed-use structure. The second tallest with the spires are the 2Worlds Towers (T2M) at 1400 feet (not shown), and to the right are the Atlas World Trade at 382m - 1255 ft, and 358m - 1175 ft.; they are all unique glossy structures. The low-rise towers surrounding them are mainly financial, corporate and government. RIA (approx. 400ft.) is a known insurance company serving worldwide. To the back left, I want to make a Riverside area consists of shops, hotels etc.

I did two renders, both clocking at 3 hours. I added a little bit of stuff -- trees, traffic lights, lamps and whathaveyou to enhance them. More stuff coming right up.

Here's one with less clouds

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2691/...2ff9dc59_o.jpg

Here's the map, all made up and updated. I hope to make a tunnel connecting alongside the downtown area on southward. I guess you notice - what's with all the foreign names and such. I am a fan of Paris - most notably like La Défense and Montréal - Québec, Canada.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2777/...7f27af56_o.jpg

I hope to put back up, the 2 Worlds Tower (actually I'll be cleaning up any unused textures or proceduals, fix it up and make it a component -- in order to keep it from going bonkers with SU.

Thanks for viewing.

I love the Luma Tower! You should post more pictures of that

Pingyao Apr 2, 2010 9:00 AM

Great street level shot  Luma tower looks gigantic.

Very cool.!!

Vellu Apr 11, 2010 6:50 AM

The street level shot is really great, it really helps to make this city look more alive - it's still missing people, though. The mixture between tall and low buildings looks quite realistic, but I'd like to see some older buildings in there as well. Or is this a brand new city with no history? You also might want to try what kind of contrast would a stone/concrete-clad building bring.

Flamesrule Apr 17, 2010 12:30 AM

Nice! I like it very much but it's not my kind of architecture. Whats the city population?

Mocholate Apr 18, 2010 7:27 AM

Great looking city :) Looking forward to seeing the two identical towers with the vertical facing discs rendered
