If it hasn't hit 300 meters it will any day now. By the end of this summer this thing will be a true giant

Prezrezc May 1, 2018 5:13 PM

YIMBY indeed confirmed that yesterday.

300m (metric benchmark) = 984¼' complete leaves 565¾' to go.

Yes indeed; this will be a jaw-dropper.

gramsjdg May 1, 2018 11:10 PM

I wonder if this will still end up being 1569' per that one DOB from a while back...

I also remember the cranes being cleared for close to 1800'. Maybe there is still a surprise in store.

Prezrezc May 1, 2018 11:46 PM

The 1,550' figure is extrapolated from from street-level IIRC.

One needs also to take AMSL into consideration.

So on that basis alone, it will appear taller than official data indicates.

Using that logic, so will everything else. But that's not really how it works.

I wish bat it will be crowned with the spire at the end it can easily break 1800 ft height, in case that ok it will clearly dominate new york city

Crawford May 2, 2018 1:42 PM

I agree, this needs a spire. This will be, at least for a couple of years, the Midtown King.

I don't doubt there will eventually be taller towers along Billionaires Row, but this needs a spire to truly be iconic.

Hey Chrysler Building! Know that your spire is not what makes you iconic!

I am just super happy this one finally exceeds 220 CPS. Considering both began construction at the same time it's nice to finally see this one take the lead. If the last update was 3 feet below supertall status we are def at supertall now.
