No wonder it wasn't mentioned in the previous long-hual change PR...

Yep & that makes Cathay Pacific happy operating the Toronto YYZ - Hong Kong HKG route on the Airbus A350!

Came across some info on the new Porter Server out of Pearson.....

https://www.narcity.com/toronto/port...-lots-changing

What is interesting:
"In an attempt to "elevate economy flying", Porter said it will offer its passengers free Wi-Fi, fresh meals (on flights longer than 2.5 hours), and more legroom — because its new 132-seat jets will not have a middle seat."

Porter said it will also continue offering free beer, wine, and snacks on all of its flights.

Alongside the launch of its new fights, Porter has also announced two new fare options for travellers — PorterReserve and PorterClassic.

PorterClassic is the "à la carte" version of PoterReserve, where passengers could pay more for things like fresh food, extra legroom, and extra bags.
They are also claiming the aircraft are environmentally responsible being up to "25% cleaner compared to the airline industry's older technology" whatever that means.

Interesting model. Not certain if it will work. They are definitely swooping in to the market with something different and a certain flair to their offering that you don't find with the other players. Changing from being focused on props to jetlines is also interesting.

So Porter's site is under maintenance tonight. Are they going to open a new version of their site and announce new routes tomorrow?

Yes, It could work.

Porter kind of reminds me of Red Arrow bus company in Canada- pay for your bus ticket & on the bus ride with them there’s free cookie snacks & drinks like pop, water & coffee where passengers can help themselves to in the back of the bus .Plus there’s wifi & also they show a movie on few overhead hanging TV few screens on the bus for all passengers to watch it together.

I’m willing to fly with Porter (if) they add a Edmonton YEG to Toronto YYZ route.

Looks like Porter updated their website.

The first 3 routes listed from YYZ are:
YYZ-YVR
YYZ-YUL
YYZ-YOW

Vancouver is added to the route map and destination list

YYZ-YOW starting Feb 2, 4x daily
YYZ-YUL starting Feb 2, 3x daily, increasing to 4x daily in summer
YYZ-YVR starting Feb 7, 1x daily, increasing to 3x daily in summer

Route map also shows YVR to YOW/YUL, but I can't find any non-stop service open for reservation...

Makes me feel bad for people having to fly out of these places especially due to possible snow coming in the next few weeks especially if you trying to fly out of these places to go wherever for Christmas or if you trying to fly out to go see family...going to be real hectic

That’s true, as during Christmas holidays there are always bad weather across Canada.

But (if) cancelled flights happen due to it , currently Air Canada & WestJet has fleet of planes to upgauge it on certain routes to clear the backlog of passengers.

Very cool. Looking forward to the day they serve YEG as I would love to give Porter a go. How do people find their VIPorter loyalty program?

Flair plans to fly✈️the Calgary YYC- Saskatoon YXE route from May 9th 2023 1x daily & it’s bookable on Flair Airlines website. Sure Air Canada plans to end it mid January 2023,but other are slowly filling the void.

WestJet will get some competition on it.

With WS ramping up to 7x daily flights to YXE next April (probably more come May and onwards) their schedules are far more convenient, plus most of these people who were taking AC were probably connecting onwards. I don't think Flair can adequately capture market share on this route. Maybe they can try to convince people who usually drive to fly instead?

WS will pick up the former AC pax but Flair will have an opportunity to grab budget O&D traffic if the price difference is big enough. There is some familiarity with Flair in the YXE market already.

Flair not filling the void left by Air Canada. Air Canada provides onward connections between Saskatoon and the rest of the network. Flair is simply a point to point airline.

Yep & looks like Calgary YYC is expecting 1.3 Million passengers for the month of December 2022 & 50,000 passengers between Dec 16-January 3 2023.

Calgary travellers advised to pack their patience this busy holiday season.
YYC Calgary International Airport and its partners are ramping up for a very busy travel season.

It is their first real holiday travel season since COVID-19 restrictions were lifted.

“We’re going to have 1.3 million guests forecast throughout the month of December,” said Chris Miles, the vice-president of operations and infrastructure for the airport authority.

“From Dec. 16 to Jan. 3, that’s actually going up to 50,000 guests per day."
