I fully agree. I know the GTAA have already installed at least a 1/2 dozen airside chargers for electrified airside vehicles. Making airports carbon neutral is a lot easier than the aircraft using said airports...although electrifying general aviation, I think will come en-masse a decade from now.

I'm no eco-activist but even I can see the greenwashing going on here. It's a bit like Syncrude issuing a press release about putting paper recycling baskets in all their Fort McMurray buildings.

You need to keep in mind we do have YVR (who had no shortage of money prior to COVID) for green projects. They have their $350 Million geoexchange project. Now partially built and on hold for better financial times to complete.

I think I had mentioned this a few months ago, but over at YUL, aeromag, the de-icing company, commissioned the world’s first electric de-icing truck. They already recycle all of their de-icing fluids, and plan to be carbon-neutral as well by 2035.

In the case of WestJet most of its schedule beyond June 4th is still pre-COVID with routes like YYC-LAS showing upwards of 4 flights in a day.

I'm assuming their holding off in case the border is re-opened over the summer and can cash in on some leisure travel and they even have semi-decent bookings for routes like CDG / FCO mid-Summer, so well see.

It's just a tad more extensive than that. YEG are talking about eliminating several thousand tonnes of CO2 annually. Multiply that by every major airport in Canada and it'll add up. YEG also sees the $ savings to be had by doing so.

Starting in April, we should start seeing positives again. In April 2020 YYC only saw 345 total international pax.

I'm 50/50 on a domestic rebound this summer, with Transborder/Sun flying recovering in the fall/winter.

The India restrictions imposed by Canada shouldn't have an effect on TK after all, as they are no longer serving India.

I expect Iran-YVR will be a main draw for the flight. 4h30 quicker on the westbound via IST rather than FRA, and 60$ cheaper RT.

AC appears to have extended YUL-CAI to year-round and added a 4th weekly YYZ-DOH flight beginning July 2.

They also removed a bunch more Transborder routes and slashed its long haul network in June-August.

Still doesn't seem like a bad summer sked overall.. However I will interested to see if a number of those overseas actually operate. The domestic is promising.

Israel announced they anticipate accepting foreign tourists beginning in May, subject to proof of vaccination, with incoming tourists not require to quarantine.

Could mean that pretty soon we see a revival of the daily flights we had to TLV from YYZ and YUL.

YUL was 3 weekly May to end of October.

Air Canada is currently flying a few times a week YYZ-TLV. Also just because Israel is opening up means nothing until Canada also drops its border restrictions like the hotel quarantine. The earliest I currently see international travel restrictions being dropped is in July.

They could (but won't) as early as June open to fully vaccinated American visitors, but with provinces now restricting domestic travel that makes it complicated.
