Thank you for sharing this!

I am very pleased to see AC retain the TCA livery on one of their planes.

I was suppose to fly on the 319 TCA livery in September but it was swapped for a different 319 FIN the day before my flight. I know the planes all look the same on the inside, but to an airline fan - it would have be something to add it my "I did this" list.

Cheers!

It's fitting to have it on a CSeries. (Yes, CSeries)

If they were going to do another one, maybe a '60s-'90s livery on another CSeries would be cool.

Yes! The TCA livery is so old as to be mostly meaningless to anyone under 60. It would be awesome to see that iconic vintage AIR CANADA flair from the 70s or 80s, though!

Every single Arrival to YYT today:

And every single Departure:

Proportionally, YYT's departure count of 6 is pretty good. YOW's daily departure count is as low as 6 and currently can't be higher than 8, with most days being 7. YYT even has international flights, which YOW hasn't seen since March 2020.

Not the best idea to fake a COVID test when coming home to Canada. Good to see Transport Canada cracking down:

https://www.mtlblog.com/en-ca/news/m...ansport-canada

Quote:

Transport Canada told MTL Blog that the first passenger was fined a total of $10,000, including $5,000 for allegedly "presenting a false or misleading COVID-19 test."

The other $5,000 was for boarding "an aircraft while having made a false declaration of their health status, knowingly having tested positive for COVID-19 within a 14-day period and thus putting other travellers and crew at risk," Transport Canada says.

The second individual was fined a total of $7,000 for the same alleged offences.

That's hopeful, thanks.

I wonder if Air St. Pierre allows Canadian citizens to book a flight from St. Pierre to Paris, before and after the pandemic? I know it's relatively affordable (missus from St. Pierre was bitching about how expensive it was chatting downtown a couple of years ago, but the price was barely 1,000 Euros so cheaper than our former direct flight to London, and about twice a good deal on the former direct flight to Dublin).

Not sure if this is the best place to discuss this (perhaps I should create a separate Great Canadian Air Fare discussion), but has anyone looked into Aeroplan points bookings recently? There are some great deals to be had. Business class flights with lie flat seats from Toronto to Vancouver for $500 with only 30k points. Round trip. Similar class international flights for only a bit more. I’m not sure how long these prices will last, but now is probably a good time to book a few trips if you have a bunch of points lying around.

As much as I like that livery, it would have been nice for AC to honour some their component predecessor airlines with a retro paint job, CP Air, PWA etc.

Maybe in a few decades. Canadian Airlines still probably still induces shivers in certain quarters of Air Canada.

I would love to see an AC red cheatline (or my favourite the red/maroon double cheatline) retro livery.

Cathay Pacific relaxes mask rules in first and business class
9 Feb 2021 by Samuel Chan

Cathay Pacific will exempt first and business class passengers from wearing face masks when sleeping, according to updated guidelines shared with cabin crew.
The Hong Kong-based carrier said the new internal memo is “designed to help our crew understand the circumstances under which mask wearing is exempted”.
Although passengers are still required to don face masks throughout the flight, with the exception of eating and drinking, travellers in premium cabins will additionally be exempted while resting.....

My first thought is both mainland China and HKG have aimed for a zero case count unlike here. My second thought is this will only be permitted on flights to countries where mandated mask wearing at all times is not the current law, which probably means Taiwan and maybe a couple other countries.

First thought is it is irrational. Passengers in the premium cabin can sleep without masks but not economy?

I might be convince that an argument could be made that the business/first class seats have portions. Maybe. But a premium economy seat will not.

I personally don’t agree with Cathay’s decision. Someone sleeping in a pod on their back and snoring could easily release droplets into the air and land on someone who might be passing by. Between eating and sleeping there will be very little mask time for these passengers. It’s a case of “the haves” versus “the have nots”. Not at all fair.

I agree with your disagreement.

American Airlines appears to have taken a hammer to its Canadian routes. YYC/YVR/YYZ-PHX all appear to have been canned and DFW-YYC/YVR reduced to a single daily. Wouldn't be surprised if there is further reductions. Kind of surprised their keeping mainline aircraft on these routes.

There is quite a bit more room between passengers in long-haul first and business class than in the other cabins. That said, I think it would still be prudent to wear a mask when you're not eating or drinking, though.

I don’t get travellers’ griping. Some chose to leave, for non essential travel, and shouldn’t have the right to complain about the consequences. I haven’t travelled for non essential reasons for more than a year, and I will remain at home until the travel advisory is lifted to keep myself, my loved ones, and everyone whom I may encounter in my daily life, safe.

International air passengers grumble as they're forced into quarantine hotels on new rule's first day
'I don’t think it’s necessary' was a common sentiment Monday as Canada put into motion one of its most dramatic COVID-19 measures yet

Author of the article:Tom Blackwell
Publishing date:Feb 22, 2021

Michelle Fernandes could almost see her home from the steps of the Sheraton Four Points hotel near Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday.

She had flown all the way from New Delhi that morning, but lives nearby in Mississauga, the suburban municipality where Pearson is located.

Yet instead of heading to her house, she was checking into an airport hotel, becoming one of the first international air travellers required to quarantine in government-sanctioned accommodations for her first three days in Canada.

Lugging three hefty suitcases after a months-long visit with relatives in India, the policy didn’t seem to make sense to Fernandes.....
